Yesterday was the 24th anniversary of the Food Program. In honor of the foundations birthday several members of the leadership team at NaRive sent us a lovely birthday message. We wanted to share those here with you!
What better birthday gift than to know that the scholarships What If provided have supported and empowered the next generation of leadership for the community.

24 years of hunger relief, a message from our founder

“osi lonton ke ou renmen, nou memn tou nou toujou gen yon espwa” as long as you love, we too still have hope
Because of the strength, resilience, and deep love of the community, embraced by our program partner, Na Rive, students at the Father Jeri School have the opportunity to celebrate this Valentine’s day surrounded by the affection, and care of their peers and teachers.

Today we celebrate the beginning of a new year. And Haitians across the world celebrate their independence.
For 15 years, Haitians fought for their independence and on January 1st of 1803 they became the first country in the Western Hemisphere where Black people overturned slavery. An incredible feat.
History is testament to the fact that change is possible. Today let us all embrace that history with strength, determination and hope, as we fight for a more prosperous path.

Thanks to your ongoing support, on Christmas morning, the children of Ti Plas Kazo picked up dry food parcels to take home to their families. They were met by staff at the community food program with warm hugs, loving words, and a few sweet treats.
Consider a year end contribution this holiday season to help ensure that the children of Ti Plas Kazo don't have to go a day without food.

We are writing to you to share with great sadness and with a sense of disbelief the unexpected passing of Lavarice Gaudin, Na Rive’s fearless Program Director, What If Foundation’s trusted partner, and a great friend to so many people all over the world.
Lavarice, affectionately known to many of us as Lava, was a champion for the Haitian people- not only those living at home but also those abroad. He was a persistent advocate for social justice and human rights and a fighter for the change he knew possible in Haiti.
The world has lost an incredible life. We have lost our friend. Lava will be terribly missed.
