FAIX CONNECT Lecture Series 2026 | Lecture 2

The Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security (FAIX), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), successfully conducted Lecture 2 of the FAIX CONNECT Lecture Series 2026, featuring an insightful lecture titled From AI Possibilities to Real-World Impact: Lessons from Manufacturing, Business, and Cybersecurity.

The session was delivered by Salahuddin (Sala) Azraie, Applications Engineering Manager, Cohu Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. The lecture provided valuable insights into how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and engineering expertise can be translated into practical, customer-focused solutions, particularly within the semiconductor manufacturing sector.

The session highlighted the growing role of AI in smart manufacturing, business strategy, cybersecurity solutions, and real-world industrial applications. Participants gained valuable perspectives on how emerging AI technologies can move beyond theoretical possibilities to create tangible impact across manufacturing and business environments. The lecture also emphasized the importance of integrating engineering expertise, innovation, digital technologies, and cybersecurity to address real-world industrial challenges.

Workshop on Academic Writing and Research Publication

On August 10, 2026 (Monday), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), through the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security (FAIX), successfully organized a workshop on Academic Writing and Research Publication at the Core Nexus Lab, FAIX.

The workshop was organized as part of FAIX’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the research and publication capabilities of its academic community, particularly lecturers, researchers, and postgraduate students. The programme focused on providing practical knowledge and strategies to improve the quality of research manuscripts and enhance their potential for publication in reputable international journals.

The session was delivered by Dr. Zaid Abdi Alkareem Alyasseri, Associate Professor at the University of Kufa, Iraq, who shared his extensive experience in academic research, publication, and peer reviewing. His valuable insights provided participants with practical guidance and perspectives on navigating the research publication process.

Among the key highlights of the workshop were effective academic writing strategies, structuring a strong research manuscript, developing clear research contributions, improving manuscript quality, selecting appropriate journals, and understanding the expectations of international journal publications. The interactive session also provided participants with valuable insights based on the speaker’s extensive research and publication experience.

The workshop created a positive and engaging environment for participants to exchange ideas, discuss their research challenges, and gain practical guidance for improving their manuscripts. The knowledge and strategies shared during the session are expected to support participants in producing higher-quality research outputs and strengthening the publication performance of FAIX and UTeM.

The successful organization of this workshop reflects FAIX’s continued commitment to strengthening its research culture, promoting academic excellence, and encouraging high-quality scholarly publications within the university community.

🛡️ International Security Operations CENTRE (SOC) Competency Training Program

The Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security (FAIX), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), successfully organized the International Security Operations Centre (SOC) Competency Training Program from 3–6 August 2026 at UTeM CySCC. The program was sponsored by UTeM under the University Signature Program, reflecting the university’s commitment to strengthening professional competencies and capacity building in cybersecurity.

The four day training was delivered by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Bengaluru, India, and facilitated by Dr. Mohammed Misbahuddin and Ms. Surabhi Dwivedi. A total of 19 lecturers from the Cyber Security Department, FAIX, participated in the program, gaining valuable hands-on knowledge and practical exposure to SOC operations and cybersecurity practices.

The program concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony officiated by the Deputy Vice Chancellor UTeM (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Mohd Rizal bin Salleh. This program further strengthens the collaboration between UTeM and CDAC while enhancing the professional competencies of FAIX academic staff in the field of cybersecurity.

Notably, this program marks the first activity conducted under the UTeM–C-DAC Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), representing an important milestone in the partnership between both institutions. We look forward to more impactful collaborative activities and initiatives in the future.

Heartfelt appreciation to the Dean of FAIX, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Muhammad Hafidz Fazli bin Md Fauadi, for his continuous support and encouragement in making this program possible and successful.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to Dr. Mohammed Misbahuddin and Ms. Surabhi Dwivedi for generously sharing their valuable knowledge, expertise, and experience throughout the four day program.

FAIX CONNECT Lecture Series 2026 | Lecture 1

The Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security (FAIX), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), successfully launched the FAIX CONNECT Lecture Series 2026 with its inaugural lecture, "AI in Smart Cities, Energy & Sustainability," delivered by Dr. Saboor Shaik, Senior Lecturer, FAIX, UTeM, who is recognised among the Top 2% World Scientists (Stanford University & Elsevier – Energy).

The lecture explored how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the future of smart cities through intelligent energy management, renewable energy integration, and sustainable building technologies. Participants gained valuable insights into AI applications in renewable energy forecasting, smart buildings, Net Zero Energy concepts, AI-powered smart glazing systems, Transparent Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), and innovative Transparent Wood-Integrated Solar Photovoltaic technologies designed to support energy-efficient and low-carbon buildings.

The session also showcased cutting-edge research demonstrating how AI can optimise building performance, reduce energy consumption, minimise carbon emissions, and contribute to the development of smarter, greener, and more sustainable cities.

The Faculty extends its sincere appreciation to all participants who joined the session both physically and online.
