What is Supply Chain?

A supply chain is the entire network of individuals, organizations, resources, activities, and technology involved in creating and selling a product, from the sourcing of raw materials to the final delivery to the end user.

Stages of a Supply Chain covered in Supply Chain Operations courses cover the transportation, storage, inventory management and distribution stages of a suppy chain.

* Sourcing/Supply: Procurement of raw
materials or components.
* Logistics & Transportation: Moving
goods between locations.
* Distribution: Storing and supplying
products to the final consumer.

Courses for Semester 2 2026 will be posted on the TAFE NSW website in May or June 2026.

Certificate II in Supply Chain Operations.
The ideal course for school leavers or people wanting to start a career in the Supply Chain sector.

Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations. Perfect course for those people who completed the Certificate II or those with some life experience looking to move into an industry sector that could literally take you anywhere.

Certificate IV in Supply Chain Operations
Want to work towards a leadership role? You start learning about team leadership, continous quality improvement, procurement, the Implementation and monitoring of the safety duties in transportation activities.

Diploma of Logistics takes you into the world of Supply Chain Management (SCM). Process flows involveing the movement of materials (goods), information (orders/data), and money.

Licence to operate a forklift truck
Licence to operate an order picker forklift

One of the many skills employers in Supply Chain look for is for their employees/future employees to hold a forklift licence and if possible an order picker licence.

Enrolments are now open in forklift licence courses being delivered on the Blacktown campus in 2026.

The course is conducted in a warehouse environment, with a virtual knowledge component (online) conducted before a two day practical component. Those successful in both can then undertake the Safework licence assessment.

Course is scheduled for a Tuesday evening with Question and answer sessions scheduled at different dsys / times during the week.

This is structured course with specific start and end dates for each unit of study.

Students must attend the course orientation in MS TEAMS in late January 2026 to receive their timetable. Invitations will be sent to those students with confirmed enrolments.
