Congratulations to our alumna Pei Xin Goh on the publication of her integrative review, “Musical Improvisation as a Self-Care Strategy for Music Therapists,” co-authored with Jos De Backer in Tijdschrift voor Muziektherapie! The paper explores how musical improvisation can support therapists’ emotional expression, self-reflection, well-being, and professional sustainability. An important contribution to ongoing conversations on therapist self-care and ethical, sustainable practice in music therapy. Well done on this meaningful achievement!

Celebrating World Music Therapy Week from 10-15 April 2026!!!

This week, we honor the transformative power of music therapy — a field where science, art, and human connection come together to create meaningful change.

At Chula Music Therapy, we witness every day how music opens pathways beyond words — supporting emotional expression, fostering connection, enhancing wellbeing, and empowering individuals across diverse settings and communities.

Music therapy is not just about music.
It is about relationships.
It is about healing.
It is about giving voice where words may not yet exist.

To all music therapists, students, educators, and advocates around the world — thank you for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to this vital work.

Let us continue to grow, collaborate, and amplify the impact of music therapy globally!!!

🌍✨ World Music Therapy Week 2026 starts today!

From 10 to 15 April, the global music therapy community comes together to mark World Music Therapy Week: a time dedicated to advocacy, awareness and sharing the value of music therapy worldwide.

This year’s theme, “Connecting Borders: Creating Networks and Enhancing Identities through Music Therapy”, highlights how the profession fosters connections across cultures, strengthens networks and supports identities through meaningful musical experiences.

The theme also aligns with the 18th World Congress of Music Therapy - Connecting Borders, the leading international event in the field, taking place this July in Bologna, Italy 🇮🇹🌐

📣 We invite professionals, students and supporters to take part by sharing their work, projects and experiences from their communities.

➡️ Use the hashtag to connect globally and allow us to share your contributions.

🎨 The official WFMT toolkit is available on: https://www.wfmt.info/post/wfmt-launches-the-world-music-therapy-week-toolkit-2026

Feel free to translate the materials to make them accessible in your local context.

Together, we highlight the role of music therapy in health, social and community settings across the world. 💜🎶

We are looking forward to the opportunity to offer a Music Therapy Workshop focused on supporting patients while also addressing professional burnout among healthcare providers @ Koon Palliative Hospital.

In demanding clinical environments, caring for others often comes at the cost of one’s own emotional and psychological well-being. This workshop is designed as a reflective and experiential space to explore how music therapy can support both patient care and the sustainability of professionals who provide it.

Facilitated by Dr. Jin Hyung Lee (Chulalongkorn University) and Mr. Boonrak Wongpoonsin (Koon Palliative Hospital), the workshop integrates clinical insight with hands-on musical experiences, highlighting practical approaches to care, connection, and self-care within palliative settings.

We sincerely appreciate Koon Palliative Hospital for recognizing the importance of this work and for making space for such meaningful engagement.
