2014 - Kampung Kiding, Kuching, Sarawak

A road funded Impian Malaysia, working together with the local community.

If you notice a guy in this picture, he is carrying things. It was a real-life scenario. It takes me (without weight) about 2 hours+ from foothill to reach Kampung Kiding (peak of the mountain). My local colleague who followed us to recce, he took 5 hours plus to reach up there. While we are enjoying a nice road in the town, the locals have to walk up and down weekly, daily to send theirs produces out, buy things back to their village.

This is the first road they ever had towards their village since Malaysia was formed. 2 years after Impian Malaysia build the road, during the Sarawak state election in 2016, the government announced that time that they decided to improve the road (yes, Impian Malaysia can only build mud trek, for motorbike, 4 wheels vehicle due to the limitation of our budget). And now, I know they communities can drive a small car very near to their village already.

I wonder, if we never ever start to build this road, will the government approved the road access project at that time?

Taking this opportunity, thanks to all the volunteers(local community and external volunteers), contractors, funders, Impian Malaysia and DAP fundraiser and many more who believe in our work!

Thanks to your generosity, the Tabung Covid-19 Orang Asli Fund has successfully raised RM353,630.87 as at 30 April 2020.

We cannot stress that we were encouraged and humbled by your support and solidarity with the Orang Asli. As a result of your generosity, we were able to attend to all the requests for aid that have since come in to us.

Once again, thank you for your generosity and solidarity with the Orang Asli. Let's keep the spirit of looking out for each other at all time.

1 May 2020 Dear Donors and Friends,Thanks to your generosity, the Tabung Covid-19 Orang Asli Fund successfully raised RM353,730.87 as at 30 April 2020.Of this amount, RM353,437.71 has been disbursed to 6,733 households, benefiting 33,159 Orang Asli individuals.

Raleigh Kuala Lumpur, Center for Orang Asli Concerns (COAC) and Impian Malaysia are pleased to announce that the TaC-OA campaign has achieved its fundraising target of RM100,000. We are truly humbled by the generous support from so many concerned citizens and Malaysians abroad.

To date we have raised RM126,509.57 and paid out RM99,602.80 from the fund to purchase food for roughly 1731 households across at least 46 villages. We are processing several more requests for aid from the communities and expect to disburse the balance within the next 3 to 4 days.

This is no mean feat however we should bear in mind the scale of the problem we are attempting to deal with. Requests will continue to increase as more communities get to know that help is available. There are still 8 more days left to our MCO, with no assurance that the Covid19 outbreak will have passed by the end of it. It will take time for life to return back to normal even in our cities and longer still in rural areas.

For these reasons we will not be ending the promotion of the TaC-OA campaign until the situation can be reassessed at the end of the MCO on April 14. We shall continue to accept your kind donations and distribute them to as many Orang Asli as possible. Your sincere contributions will definitely find their way to those who need our assistance the most.
