Vishwajyoti Yoga Yoga emphasizes a mastery of the self. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit, "yuj", meaning "to yoke" or "to join".

Yoga is one of the six schools in the Indian Philosophical system. Through postures, breathing techniques, meditation and virtuous living, Yoga allows the individual to take a step towards an inward journey to realize one's true self and nature. Just as we tune musical instruments before we play them, so must we tune ourselves so that we can positively exist in the world. Yoga teaches it's student

s to battle stress, hardships and other challenges in daily life. Through teachings, one can learn to strengthen the body, mind and intellect, to truly master one's self. Our Instructor:

Yoga Instructor, Vishwajyoti Pascual Srivastava, comes from a very diverse and unique background that allows him to teach the Yogic Arts to all levels of students. He is presently a Certified Yoga Instructor recognized by the Yoga Alliance. He began his Yogic studies when he was a child, learning from his father, an accomplished Yogic Practitioner hailing from the Sivananda lineage and student of Vedanta Philosophy. Being raised by an Indian father and a Filipino mother, he learned early on to see and build his bridges between the two faiths, finding their common root planted firmly in their spiritual practices. As a fond student of the martial arts particularly Shaolin Kung Fu, Kushti or Classical Indian Wrestling, Lathi or Stick Fighting, Pari-Khanda or Sword Fighting, Musthi Yuddha or Indian Kick Boxing and Dhanurvidya or Archery, Vishwa equates the life force of “chi” to that of “prana”, which is the breath that can create a current of energy within the body when we are in deep practice. Many of world's Martial Arts traditions have strong roots in the practice of meditation and channeling energy within the body. Yoga, in the end, prepares one for meditation which in turn gives a greater appreciation and understanding of the Martial Sciences and their accompanying philosophies. After spending many years living and studying throughout India, Vishwa decided to pursue his Masters Degree study in South Asian Anthropology and Religion at the University of Washington in Seattle. In addition to having read and discussed many of the ancient texts in the Hindu and Buddhist systems, his primary research in Graduate School was focused on Ta***ic Goddess Worship and various sects of Yogis devoted to Lord Shiva throughout the Indian Subcontinent. Another focal point of his research is that of the Mahasiddha Lineage in the South Asian Subcontinent. He was initiated into the Kriya Yoga Lineage under his Guru, Paramahamsa Prajnanananda, who presently resides in the East Indian State of Orissa. Vishwa is also well versed in Sanskrit, Brajbhasha (Medieval Hindi) and fluent in the Hindi Language.
