At Ethan Shive Elementary, we are incredibly grateful for the dedication and heart Mrs. Rhonda Barnhardt has shown our students this year. Mrs. Barnhardt served as a long-term substitute in a first-grade classroom during the fall and later stepped into a third-grade classroom in the spring, always going far beyond what is expected.

Mrs. Barnhardt consistently worked tirelessly to ensure students received the high-quality learning opportunities they deserved. It was not uncommon to see her at Shive long after most staff had gone home, preparing lessons and supporting student success. She also took the initiative to attend professional development sessions on our new reading curriculum on her own time so she could better meet the needs of her third-grade students.

Her love for children, commitment to learning, and unwavering dedication to the students of Shive have made a lasting impact on our school community. There are simply not enough words to express the sincere gratitude and appreciation we have for Mrs. Barnhardt. Thank you for the difference you make every single day!

During Teacher Appreciation Week, we celebrate our outstanding 2nd and 3rd grade teachers who serve as the vital bridge in a child’s learning journey—guiding students from learning to read toward reading to learn, and from practicing math skills to confidently applying mathematical thinking in real-world ways. With thoughtful instruction and high expectations, they help students deepen comprehension, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and grow as independent learners. Their dedication, patience, and genuine love for children create classrooms where curiosity thrives and confidence builds, ensuring each student is supported, challenged, and inspired every single day.

Teacher Appreciation Week gives us the opportunity to recognize our incredible PreK through 1st grade teachers, who lay the essential foundation for a lifetime of learning. Through their patience, creativity, and unwavering dedication, they nurture not only early academic skills but also curiosity, confidence, and a genuine love of school. These educators understand that the smallest moments—learning letters, forming friendships, and discovering the joy of reading—have the greatest impact. With hearts full of compassion and classrooms full of wonder, they shape the future by caring deeply for every child, ensuring each student feels valued, supported, and inspired to grow.
