Happy Diwali!!!

Hello RPS people! The school, naturally, is shut down during the pandemic.

However, amazing distance learning via Ptatham's digital capabilities continues.

We are regrouping and will continue to update you.

However, rest assured these students are in loving hands - their parents are extremely dedicated to their children. Their community is focused and supporting the school, even when it is closed.

First Standard

Hello from India! I taught first class (1st grade) English yesterday and today. I'm a sucker for these kids. They are rowdy, hyper-alert and hyper-social. They are everything I could hope for in my students. Too many times in my career I've seen the worst is the normal standard in other schools: listless, sick kids with zero incentives to learn ... loomed over by teachers who beat them if they make noise. It is, tragically, the most common thing I find when visiting other schools around us and across the developing world. Not a chance, here, at the Rainbow School.
THE RAINBOW SCHOOL TEACHERS & PRATHAM SUPPORTED TEACHERS
- Same as always, our teachers are loving, local women who are also mothers to their own school aged kids. These teachers are constantly thinking of better and better ways to teach, squeezing in art and movement in the already packed and very challenging government set curriculum.
- These teachers have always amazed me with their creativity and drive to connect with these kids.
THE NAANDI FOUNDATION
- I would say equally important to the success of the school is the giant mid-day meal delivered each day by the Naandi Foundation, another of our 1/2 dozen partner organizations. Without the mid-day meal student health would be at least 1/4 to 1/3 worse.
- And the mid day meal does provide an awesome incentive to get the kids in the door.

This is the time of year when our students are settling into the new school year. We will have visitors and lots of fun.
