The High Desert Center has hosted 28+ interns since 2005. For the motivated individual this is an incredible opportunity to create a self-designed program in sustainability, to experience a vibrant high desert community, and to make a positive difference. The options in this internship are many, because the High Desert Center works collaboratively with other schools, farms and non-profits in a va
lley chock full of folks living sustainably. We are also well suited to serving as mentors for students enrolled in other educational programs. Finally, the Gap Year program is for young adults looking for adventure and ways to live an inspiring life. Our interns help us staff a series of green camps for kids and teens. Campers encounter a variety of activities that include learning: to cook with the sun, survival skills, to gather local foods, to backpack in the Rockies, science and ecology, to build communication skills, and to apply natural building skill. Kids sleep in tipis and we emphasize playing and exploring in the outdoors.
