Racv Energy Breakthru St Arnaud Primary - Extreme Warheads Team Maryborough Energy Breakthrough November 2013

25/11/2013

Results have just come thru for the week end. Extreme Warheads have come 19th out of 42 in the category 2 pushcart section. What a great results for our 1st try in a few years. After a quick look it seems that we have come equal 5th in design and construction, 25th in display and presentation, 24th in the obstacle race, 30th in the sprint and 25th in the Enduro. In a field of 42 to finish in the middle of the pack is no disgrace. But that means there is still room for improvement.

Well that's our Energy Break through experience over with, and l would like to say a big thank you to the St Arnaud team of kids. What a great group of kids we took away. All parents should be proud of the display of sportsmanship and responsibility the kids displayed over the 3 days. I felt like the proud mother of the Brady Bunch family and wouldn't hesitate in taking any of these kids again. They have done their families and their school proud. We may not have won any awards but l think they have achieved a great deal of knowledge from this experience. Well done guys - thanks for the present , but l got great enjoyment of spending time with this great group of kids. Good luck for next year and hopefully you may go that step further.

What a week end. Day one and the kids have done themselves proud - preforming at their best in 1st the obstacle race, then the display and Presentation and lastly the Endurance race. I'm sure if you haven't been down to Maryborough and you talk to the kids that went down for the week end - you'll be marking it on your calendar for a "look and see" next year. Can we do as well tomorrow.

Day two - The St Arnaud kids were up and into early on day 2 , Saturday morning. As l pulled into our site l see Don and Sam sitting up to breakfast and poor Charlie laying down on the grass as sick as sick can be. With Charlie being unable to compete in the sprint race today Alex was put into his position with Cindi.
Our first challenge for the day was to pulled down our cart and then present to the judges our ability on reassembling it. The team achieve this as well as we had seen them do it at practice. The judges then asked them a series of questions in regard to their cart. The girls were then as to name all the tools which they done without a hiccup.
11.00am seen us line up for our sprint race. With all the hype building for the start of the HPV 24 hour racing building we took to the start line and where looking pretty good. But a run of bad luck with a tricky seat belt seen us fall behind. The kids put in their best performance on the day and that's all we could ask of them. Then out of the sprint race we were selected to use our cart in the VIP race. Joel and Alex were selected to represent our team. They did a great job too. Coming in second in our heat race meant we moved through to the final with our VIP driver being a Northern Grampians Shire representative by the name of Geoff Suticliffe.
We were well placed in the first leg of the sprint of the VIP final but l must say our VIP driver had trouble with the seat belt and the boys raced home in a strong 2nd position in the final.

Well we didn't pass exactly but not a big problem. The nut on the steering rod had to be secured either by welding or lock nut. So out to Sams nan & pops and problem solved. Well done boys. C you all tomorrow at our site all ready for action.
