Uniport SUG Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Dimkpa Noble Ka-Lenebari Lah, Leads "Keep It Clean Project" Across Hostels.

The Chief Judge of the University of Port Harcourt Students' Union Government (SUG), Hon. Justice Dimkpa Noble Ka-Lenebari Lah, has demonstrated exemplary leadership through the successful ex*****on of the "Keep It Clean Project", an initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness, personal hygiene, and environmental responsibility across student hostels.

The sanitation exercise brought together students and Union executives to advocate for a cleaner and healthier living environment while sanitary materials were distributed to hostel residents. The initiative served as both an awareness campaign and a practical step toward fostering a culture of responsibility within the University community.

The exercise was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Abraham Georgewill, who commended the Chief Judge and his team for championing such a meaningful project. He encouraged students to sustain the culture of cleanliness, emphasizing its importance to academic excellence and personal well-being.

The project also received the support of the SUG President Senator Amaechi Tamunotonye Walson, the SUG Senate President Senator Bestman Ayebaye Ilegimokuma Desmond Bestman Ayebaye and other Union executives, reflecting a shared commitment to student welfare and campus development.

Under the leadership of Hon. Justice Dimkpa Noble Ka-Lenebari Lah, Chief Judge of the Uniport SUG, the "Keep It Clean Project" has left a lasting impact on hostel residents while reinforcing the values of service, responsibility, and community engagement.

Bridging Cultures, Building Opportunities 🌍🇳🇬🇨🇳

Our host, Vera Adeche Vera Adeche, had an insightful conversation with Ugoaru Chinaeme (李中华), a trailblazing academic and international cooperation practitioner who is redefining the place of Chinese language and cultural education in the Niger Delta.

Ugoaru Chinaeme, a sinologist, is an academic and international cooperation practitioner specializing in Chinese Language, culture, and cross-regional education–industry collaboration. He is a Lecturer in Chinese Language and Culture at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and the Chinese Learning Centre, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He holds the distinction of being the first indigenous Chinese language lecturer at Uniport and within the Niger Delta region.

He is the Founder and Author of the Panacea for Unemployment Initiative (PUI), an initiative focused on linking education, skills development, and employability through international collaboration. He also serves as the Pioneer Coordinator of the Window to China Book Corner at Uniport, President of the Niger Delta Belt and Road Forum, and Coordinator of the China–Nigeria Industry–Education Consortium for the Niger Delta region.

His work focuses on bridging classroom-based learning with cultural exchange, industry engagement, and practical international cooperation. He is particularly committed to fostering sustainable partnerships among Africa, the Middle East, and China, with a strategic emphasis on China–Nigeria–Niger Delta collaboration in education, culture, and human capital development.

21st Valedictory Senate Session: Tributes to Retiring Professors of the University of Port Harcourt.

The Senate of the University of Port Harcourt held its 21st Valedictory Session to honour retiring Professors who have devoted the greater part of their active academic careers to the service of the University of Port Harcourt.

Each honouree was presented with a citation, accompanied by heartfelt tributes read in appreciation of their meritorious service and lasting contributions to the University community.

The session also included prayers for the retirees, with warm wishes for rest, fulfilment, and peace in the years ahead.

Uniport Educational Management Department Hosts 5th International Conference in 5 Years.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, has commended the Department of Educational Management for its consistent drive in advancing academic excellence through international collaboration and research engagement.

He noted that within five years, he has participated in and declared open five international conferences organised by the department, describing the experience as both inspiring and fulfilling.

According to him, the department has demonstrated remarkable commitment to knowledge sharing, improvement of research ideas and academic writing, while also projecting the University of Port Harcourt positively on the global stage.

The conferences have continued to attract resource persons from diverse locations as well as participants from across the world, providing a platform for critical discussions on contemporary issues in Educational Management.

Prof. Psalms Chinaka Appointed New Head Of Department of English Studies, Uniport.

The appointment is a fitting recognition of his commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and the continued growth of the department.

Beyond the classroom, Prof. Chinaka is widely admired for his remarkable contribution to the department through the construction and donation of a Language Laboratory, a legacy project that has enhanced teaching, learning, and research for both staff and students.

The transformative initiative, supported by Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), is designed to drive cutting-edge research, foster innovation, develop skilled manpower, and advance technology within Nigeria's gas sector.

Representing the University of Port Harcourt at the high-level stakeholder meeting was Prof. Eseosa Omorogiuwa, Director of the Centre for Information and Telecommunication Engineering (CITE), reaffirming the University's commitment to industry collaboration and global partnerships.

As academia, industry, and international institutions come together, the vision is clear: building a world-class centre that will shape the future of gas research, innovation, and energy excellence in Nigeria and beyond.
