As 2017 tolls away 2018 is dawning. Do you have an inspirational word for 2018? I am working on mine shall let you know.

Classmate Larry Sample's Mother passed away yesterday. Larry and I grew up together until I was about 6 when we moved to Huxley from Dreka. My Grandma Bell continued to live there so I still saw him and his sisters often. I have fond memories of his Mom, Ms Odell.

Our hearts are heavy today with loss of our dear mother Odell Sample, she was a wonderful mother, mamaw and mother in law. Her visitation will be at 9:00 Thursday morning at Mangum Funeral Home with a gravesite service at 10:00 at Oaklawn Cemetary, please keep our family in your prayers.

Sorry friends, we will have Odell's funeral at 10 instead of graveside service at 10!

2018 is almost here...45 years!!

Several classmates have lost family over the last few years.

Bobby Warr lost his Mother.
John Doggett lost his Dad.
Ronald Sample lost a Brother.
Larry Sample lost his Dad. (Ronnie's brother)
Faye Henry lost her Sister
Mike Scarber lost his Dad.
Larry Cosby lost his Son.
Larry Cosby lost his Sister
Sue Battles lost her Mother
Janice Hill lost her Dad.

I know I haven't listed all, some I knew about others I got scanning Shelby County Today.

Have a blessed ending to 2017!!

Just read that our classmate Sue Barton Battles is in hospital...ICU in Nacogdoches after having a stroke. Please keep her and the family in your prayers.

Got an text letting me know that Dale Windham is in hospital. No details but prayers are requested. Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Larry Sample's Daddy, P.O. Sample passed away Monday the 7th. He is also Ronald's brother. Mr P.O. had been ill for a long time and passed away at home. Keep Larry and Ronald in your prayers along with Larry's Mom, Odell. They were married 67 years. There are many other survivors incliding Larrys sisters. Prayer and love to all of you.

Shelby County Today Graveside service for Thelma Lee Powers Brito will be Thursday December 10, 2015, at Blair Cemetery, with Bro. Carroll Jones officiating.

Sorry I am late with this. Larry Cosby's brother Jimmy Cosby passed away last week. Obit on Shelby County Today. I'll get a card to him for us. I was in Huxley..Fri May 1 until the next Wed. Mother & I kept very busy. Sorry I didn't get to see anyone. I did get to visit with Fay Henry at WalMart. First time ever that she was at work when we went there!!
Has been a busy storm season this May..no twisters near me, but did get 12+ inches of rain over 6 days with high winds and hail. No damage to my place, but a home down the road got a tree on its roof...the whole Oak tree came up by its roots. I have seen many trees split or with limbs broken.
