CANARA BANK has been a pioneer in initiating and
implementing multifaceted and innovative
programmes aimed at development of people from
the lower strata of the society. The Bank has been
playing a pivotal role and trying to bring about a
socio-economic transformation in the society,
particularly in rural areas.
The bank, in its endeavour to promote Rural
Development, set up Rural Development Section at
Head Office during 1980 and Canara Bank Platinum
Jubilee Rural Development Trust during 1982. The
Trust was renamed as Canara Bank Centenary
Rural Development Trust (CBCRD TRUST) in Banks
Centenary year 2006.
Beyond banking, the Bank has launched various
promotional and developmental schemes towards
rural development.

Subbarao pai institute formed under the canara bank CRDP trust is one of the pioneer institutes under this scheme.
formed in the 1991 this institute has provided training to more than 12000 individuals on varoiuos self employment activities free of cost.
