Play along with Music Mouse 🐭

Just because our classes promote a love of reading, it doesn't mean we sit around with books for the whole session; it's quite the opposite in fact!

A firm favourite each week is when we get our instrument box out to pick something to play or shake along to our Music Mouse song.

Did you know that tapping a steady beat strengthens auditory discrimination which helps children to distinguish different speech sounds?

And repetition of rhymes and songs helps children develop phonemic awareness which is a necessary building block for reading?

This Sunday (September 13th) marks a celebration of one of the UK's best-loved children's authors, Roald Dahl.

Our regular Reading Fairy classes may have stopped for summer, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun learning and reading together 😊

The National Year of Reading 2026 website www.goallin.org.uk has resources and inspiration to keep children of all ages engaged and many of our class practitioners are hosting fun summer specials that you can seek out via our website (link in comments).
