FLOATING AT SEA
"Today, the ocean was like glass.
I've been stranded on my little raft since the storm struck three days ago. Here am I, afloat in the middle of the South China Sea, with nothing but a discarded tin filled with rainwater and 2 proteins bars which had been stuffed in my pocket.
Hopeful, I leaned out to scan the water for something I could catch for my next meal. The shifting raft which I was floating on, agitated the water and sent radiating ripples across the crystal surface.
The sun was blinding overhead, and its scorching rays illuminated the depths, turning the water crystal clear.
Suddenly, 10 feet away from me, a triangular grey fin, about 4 feet in height, rose and sliced through the smooth surface. I gasped. Its streamlined body torpedoed through the depths, speeding towards me. My eyes widened as I saw its gaping mouth and distinctive head of a Great White became clear as it breached the surface. Mouth agape, its serrated teeth the size of razor blades grabbed hold of the rubber raft and whipped it from side to side; shaking me, like a rag toy, in it. I grabbed the sides with all my might to prevent myself from being tossed into the deep water and its awaiting teeth. Suddenly, it let go. "

MIT Says Music Not Coding Might Be the Key to Raising Smarter Kids
If you’re debating between enrolling your child in piano lessons or a coding boot camp, new research from MIT might help you decide and the answer may surprise you.
According to the study, learning to code only activates general-purpose areas of the brain associated with logic and problem-solving. That’s not bad, but it doesn’t tap into the brain’s more powerful language centers, which are crucial for communication, memory, and cognitive flexibility.
In contrast, learning a musical instrument from an early age has been shown to build stronger, more lasting structural and functional brain connections particularly in regions responsible for speech, memory, and executive function. And here’s the kicker: these brain-boosting benefits stick around even if the child stops playing music later in life.
So while coding remains a valuable skill, researchers suggest that music offers deeper, longer-lasting cognitive development. If you want to future-proof your child's mind, a violin, guitar, or keyboard might be a better investment than an app or programming course.
Bottom line? Music isn’t just an art it’s brain food.
