We are proud to share a special moment as one of our very own students, Gimhana, and his mother were featured on television in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day
Gimhana joined Chitra Lane Resource Centre at just two and a half years old, beginning with infant stimulation, and gradually progressed through preschool to become a full-time student at our school. From a young child who faced challenges with fine and gross motor skills as well as behavior, his journey has been nothing short of inspiring.
Over the years, Gimhana developed remarkable abilities—most notably his outstanding talent in music, especially playing the drums. Today, a proud graduate of Chitra Lane, he continues to shine.
Recognising his incredible potential, our Founder, Mrs. Delysia Gunewardene, encouraged him to take on a new role as an assistant to the music teacher. In this role, Gimhana now actively supports others like him in the music room, helping them grow, learn, and become responsible members of society.
In the interview, his mother expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Gunewardene and all the teachers who have been part of Gimhana’s journey at Chitra Lane.
We celebrate Gimhana’s achievements and remain deeply thankful to our dedicated staff who make stories like his possible every day.
