Congratulations Mr. Riley! Another one of our grant recipients making an impact!

A standing ovation for our very own Westhill Band Director, Mr. Corey Riley, teacher at Onondaga Hill Middle School and Westhill High School for being named as one of only 222 public school music teachers across the nation selected as semifinalists for the 2026 CMA Foundation Music Teachers of Excellence program! 🎉🎶

For the past 10 years, this CMA MTOE initiative has celebrated the educators who open doors, spark creativity, and change lives through music. Mr. Riley does just that at Westhill: he teaches lessons to our brass and percussion musicians in grades 6-12, directs the high school Symphonic Band, Jazz Program (including Big Band and Jazz Lab), Audio Production and Engineering Program, teaches OCC Studio Music and Music Theory, and changes the lives of our students on a daily basis!

Over the next two months, Mr. Riley will share his teaching approach and reflections as part of a next phase application as he works to represent Westhill in the finals that will be announced during Teacher Appreciation Week 2026. Wish Mr. Riley luck as he continues in this process!

Such a great annual event!

Thank you to all who attended last month's gala event. The Foundation was able to raise over $8,700 which will fund amazing experiences for our students. So far this year, the Foundation has funded:
- A visit to Walberta Park by author Tina Shepherson
- A trip to the Landmark Theatre for high school students enrolled in AP US History and US Government to see Hamilton
- A visit to OHMS by author Megan Freeman
- A field trip to the zoo for all 4th graders
- An upcoming field trip for all 2nd graders to see Elephant & Piggie's "We are in a play!" at Le Moyne's Gifford Family Theatre

📣 Food and Coat Drive starts tomorrow! You’ll find bins by the doors at Cherry Road and Walberta Park! Kid’s can easily drop off their goods when they get off of the bus/get dropped off. Thank you in advance for your generosity! 🥫🧥

Tonight I was given the honor of serving as emcee and DJ for the Westhill Central School District Educational Foundation Gala.

I got to give awards to an NFL player, the owner of Coleman's, a very accomplished teacher, and the widow of a fallen soldier.
It was the first time I've ever emceed something like this.
