Housed at the University of Virginia’s Contemplative Science Center, Dalai Lama Fellows cultivates and supports a global movement of next generation leaders integrating contemplative work with social innovation to solve global challenges. The imperative to recognize our interdependence has never been greater, given population growth, increased antagonism across religions and cultures, growing economic inequity and increasingly insurmountable challenges like the climate crisis. In response, Dalai Lama Fellows is cultivating and supporting a global movement of next generation leaders, applying universal values to solve global challenges. Over the past six years, we have established a Fellowship program authorized by the Fourteenth Dalai Lama to foster universal responsibility for one another and for the planet we share. We are Reimagining Leadership. To date, we have selected more than 100 Fellows, representing 25 nationalities; the majority of the Fellows are women. We provide each Fellow with a yearlong “Head, Heart and Hands” Curriculum, personalized mentorship and coaching. Fellows also receive funding for an original Project looking to ameliorate entrenched problems like poverty, violence, gender inequities, cross cultural hostilities and environmental degradation. After their Project Year, Fellows are invited into a LifeLong Learning Community, where they continue to engage around our vision and core values, while turning to each other and to us for ongoing collaboration. Dalai Lama Fellows is secular and ecumenical, and Fellows represent a broad diversity of religious, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Dalai Lama Fellows is part of a broader global movement at the intersection of mindfulness and social justice. We are in this together.
