📢 Post-Event Update: IEEE Embedded Systems Workshop

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our One-Day Workshop on Embedded Systems, organized by IEEE RAS FUTO Student Branch in collaboration with IEEE PELS, PES, WIE, IAS, SIGHT and CS FUTO Student Branch.

The session was insightful and engaging, with participants gaining hands-on experience in Arduino programming, sensor interfacing, and real-world embedded applications. Special thanks to our host, Ugbah Bonaventure (IEEE RAS FUTO-SB Chair), Chief host, Chizaramekpere Osuji, IEEE FUTO-SB Chair and everyone who contributed to making this event a success!

We look forward to more innovative and impactful sessions in the future. Stay tuned for more opportunities to learn and grow with IEEE!

As we bid farewell to our outgoing Chair, Chizaramekpere B. Osuji we reflect on her remarkable tenure as the first female leader of IEEE Robotics & Automation Society at FUTO SB.

When she assumed office in February 2024, RAS had zero student members. Under her leadership, she achieved the following milestones:

- Began the petition to register the first sub-society in FUTO SB with 8 student members
- Grew membership to 18 students, with 7 activating their membership for the new year
- Organized a robotics workshop under the guidance of our chapter advisor Dr. Ekene Samuel Mbonu
- Hosted two webinars featuring expert robotics engineers Akshet Patel 🤖 and Emmanuel Akinrintoyo who shared valuable insights on robotics and healthcare
- Reached out to first-year Mechatronics Engineering students to encourage participation in RAS
- Facilitated brainstorming sessions for IEEEduino and WIE tech competitions alongside her teammates Genevieve Ikechukwu Chidiebere Mbaegbu and others
- Secured the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society startup grant, which provided funds for start-up kits used in our first workshop.

She also volunteered her graphics design skills to create flyers, banners and other visual materials for all our events.

PS: All the flyers below were her designs (for free)

We're grateful for her dedication and leadership. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors and look forward to the incoming Chair taking IEEE RAS & IEEE FUTO SB to even greater heights!

As 2024 comes to a close, we are excited to share two remarkable success stories from our student branch.

1: Introduction to MATLAB Programming

In collaboration with IEEE RAS FUTO Student Branch, our student branch chapter advisor Dr. Ekene Mbonu conducted a 2-day training on Introduction to MATLAB Programming for 100-level Mechatronics students. We encouraged participants to enroll in the MATLAB Onramp program. We are proud to report that 145 students successfully submitted their Onramp certificates!

2: Simulink for Control System Modeling

At the request of Engr. Dr. Obiukwu from the Mechanical Engineering department, Dr. Ekene Samuel Mbonu taught final-year Mechanical Engineering students how to use Simulink for control system modeling. They started with an introduction to MATLAB, followed by Simulink training. We are delighted to share that 165 students submitted their MATLAB Onramp certificates!

These achievements demonstrate the impact of our efforts to promote STEM education and empower the next generation of engineers. We are grateful to our chapter advisor Dr Ekene Samuel Mbonu, HOD of Mechatronics Engineering Prof. Chukwunenye Okoronkwo, the university and our collaborators IEEE IEEE Robotics & Automation Society IEEE RAS Student Activities Committee for their support.

Let's continue to inspire and educate our students, shaping the future of engineering and technology!

We recently concluded our 9-day capacity-building workshop on robotics and automation funded by IEEE Robotics & Automation society.

This training was aimed to enhance student skills and introduce them to robotics systems. The workshop provided hands-on experience in designing and implementing innovative projects, covering electronic devices, circuit simulation, sensors, actuators, and microcontroller programming.

Participants gained practical knowledge in robotics and automation, bridging the gap between theoretical foundations and real-world applications.

This continual initiative will empower our student members to grow in the field of robotics and continually foster a community of innovators.

We're proud to showcase our chapter's achievements and contributions to the RAS community. Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments!
