Happy Friday everybody!

We had our first meeting yesterday and it went great! We are happy to have seen you all there, both in-person and virtually! Per request we have made a BGS GroupMe, so please join via this link: https://app.groupme.com/join_group/71492092/PfQdYWuq

For anyone who was unable to attend the meeting we have posted the presentation slides in Files on Canvas, and I will provide a brief meeting recap here as well.

Starting this year we will be implementing a point requirement to be eligible for receiving a stole/cord for graduation. Each member must receive three points total (one prof. development, one community service, one social) in their graduating semester to earn their stole/cord. To receive a point you need to attend one professional development event, one community service event, and one social. These points are counted on a semester basis, and do not roll over into the spring semester. If you are unable to meet these requirements for any reason throughout the semester, please reach out to us and we can try to accommodate.

Our first social will be next week on Thursday, October 7th at 6:00 PM at Railyard. We are excited to see you all there and get to know you more! Our other upcoming events for October include: McCoy Graduate Programs Fair (October 11th 3:00 - 6:00 PM in the LBJ Ballroom), McCoy Enron 20 Years Later Event (October 19th 11:30 AM - Remote), McCoy First Gen Networking Event (October 22nd 1:00 - 2:30 PM in the Minifie Atrium, McCoy Hall 434), and our Law School Professional Development Event (October 27th 5:00 PM, location TBD). The links to register for these events are provided in the PowerPoint, and I will send out announcements with more details as the events occur. Additionally, all of these upcoming events will count as a professional development point.

Good evening everyone!

I hope everybody is having a great start to their week. This Friday, April 23rd, at 5:00 P.M. Beta Gamma Sigma is hosting guest speaker Marina Matselinskaya.

Marina handles Investor Relations at Halliburton. In this role, she interfaces with investors and equity analysts to provide insights into the company's strategy, positioning, and financial performance. She is coming to talk to us about the ends and outs of managing and garnering those relationships. If you are an entrepreneur or just have an entrepreneurial spirit this opportunity to learn from one of the best could be vital for your career/business!

Additionally, Marina has taken on a variety of marketing, technical sales, and business development roles in the Asia Pacific, Eurasia, Latin America, and the US, offering a wealth of knowledge for us!
