It's all about quality training.
This is a good demonstration of technique and control. This can only be done through consistent quality instruction.
If your department is in need of applicable training from a local instructor that has over 25yrs experience as a Judo and Jiu-jitsu Black Belt, then reach out to us. We'll be glad to help your organization.

It's all about quality of technique and quality of training.
Too bad Judo doesn't work with no Gi. HAHAHAHAHA! Okay. That's only said by those who don't know.
This is me and Mr French working flow throwing with no-Gi during a private lesson. Mr French is a solid 60lbs heavier than me. Yeah, throwing not a problem.
90% of the techniques I teach and train work without the Gi. This is what makes us so different than your typical Sport Judo oriented school.
I work no-Gi all of the time when working with Police, Fire, and EMS professionals. Because we are more Self-Defense oriented, it's no big deal for us.
We work stand, ground, weapon defense, striking integration, and multiple attackers.
To be fair... most of today's Judo is very heavily Gi dependent because it's geared towards Judo competition, hence why I use the term "Sport Judo" when describing other schools.
We learn and practice Judo as it was originally intended. As a complete grappling system that is a Martial Art designed for effective Self-Defense in a wide range of situations (stand, ground, multiple attackers, defense against striking and weapons).
If you are wanting to learn Judo in a safe, clean, professional entertainment, then you have to come and see me.

Happy 19th Birthday to my son.
Throughout last year (18), he completeded his High School education requirements as set by the Texas Board of Education (homeschooled by me) while starting to work Full Time at a great job making almost $20/hr, he competed in his first Judo competition, his fist BJJ competition, took.off work to donate time working and training Police Cadets at a local Police Academy, got his driver's license, bought his own car outright with his own hard earned money, paying for his own insurance, cell phone, food and clothes, while also training Judo 5 days a week and contributing back to the Dojo.
What can I say... Pretty damn awesome. I am super proud of him.
Like my last post. Before anything else, I'm a single father trying to do the best I can with what I have.
It's simple. My kids come before any other.

Job number one. Be the best father I can.
I know I haven't been posting as much lately. I have been so overwhelmed with Law Enforcement training, Private Lessons, and Dojo management.
Yesterday morning, eating breakfast, and being so mentally and physically exhausted, my daughter said, "Dad. You need a hug.". She hugs me all the time, but really just needed it. We hugged for about a minute or two.
Shortly after, a customer at the same restaurant came up to me and asked me to launch the camera on my phone, then asked us to hug each other just like we were minutes before, but asked us to look at the camera. They wanted us to have a picture of the moment and said, "Keep doing what you're doing. It's beautiful."
What a touching moment.
I'm posting this here because before I'm a Judo instructor (Sensei), I'm a father to 2 awesome kids. A single father working my butt off to do what I can in such a short precious amount of time they are kids.
Both of my kids actively practice with me in class, though they receive no special treatment. They LOVE Judo.
I couldn't be more happy to have them.

There is no reason at all to not have quality training for your department. If you would like to know what kind of value we bring to the training department, let me know and I can put you in contact with the Chief of Staff at UT Systems Police.

Consistent quality training with an experienced professional instructor WILL result in better hands-on contact with subjects.
Harai-Goshi (sweeping hip)! My absolute FAVORITE technique! It's so easy to turn someone upside-down with this one.
Here is me and Mr French working during a private lesson. We were working an advanced entry in to Harai-Goshi. As with most techniques, when done right, their size and weight feel like nothing. Mr French is 60lbs pure muscle heavier than me. I had no problems at all.
Good technique. Good body mechanics. Good control. This is our focus when training.
If you are using speed and power to execute a technique in practice, then you're doing it wrong. If your instructor tells you more speed and power to execute a technique in practice, then they likely don't really understand how the technique works and the physics behind it.
If you are looking to train and learn Judo and Jiu-Jitsu in a safe, clean, professional environment, then you need to come see me.

Happy Birthday Texas! March 2, 1836!
The only state in the United States that was it's own country before joining the US and still has the right to secede and become it's own country again.
We can fly our flag at the same height as the American flag.
God Bless Texas!

Thin Blue Line Open Mat at the TX DPS (Dept. Of Public Safety) HQ! For non Law Enforcement, it's by invitation only.
It's always an honor to be invited. This time, the invites only went to myself and one other individual who is a BJJ Black Belt.
The goal is to work with who ever is there and to help them grow and be comfortable in their skills as well as expose vulnerabilities in those who need more training. We're not there to win, beat anyone up, or have an ego.
This go around, the current class of cadets, approximately 70, were brought in to play too.
To all those who showed up. You were AWESOME and keep training when ever you can. It may very well save your life.
At Team Haas Judo Jiu-Jitsu, Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS are welcome to train with us. I will tailor your training for your work. It's only $125/month Unlimited.

Haas-jitsu.com/schedule.html to see when we have the next training. I also have TCOLE classes on the schedule as well.
Another First Responder Sunday in the books. This was a snapshot from what was left of us doing some Ne-Waza (ground fighting).
We had some DPS Cadets show up for some additional work, which was fantastic.
As always, everyone was great!
People can talk about doing whatever in situations or think they know how to do x because they are watching videos, but the reality is... only time on the mat matters.
So... get in to the Dojo and get quality consistent training that will work towards your personal objectives.
