I first met Carolyn a few years ago when we were breaking ground on a Habitat for Humanity house on Greenfield Street. I was immediately impressed and inspired by her drive, compassion and work ethic. She had a great sense of humor too. Our paths crossed a few times since then and the last time we saw each other was at a luncheon hosted by students at Walter Fitzgerald campus. We enjoyed catching up and talking with students about their hopes for the future. She was a force for change and was dedicated to making the world a better place and she did just that. Sending deepest condolences to her family as they celebrate her amazing life.

The safety of our staff, students and residents is our top priority. Since blizzard conditions are forecasted to extend into tomorrow, Town of Fairfield offices and the Fairfield Public Schools will be closed on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Stay safe and if possible, off the roads. This will be a heavy, wet snow and will be more difficult to plow. Let's try to give DPW room to work.

Just a reminder, a parking ban is in effect. Vehicles must park on the EVEN numbered side of the street until ban is lifted.

Due to the forecasted winter storm, Town Hall offices will be closed Monday for the safety of residents and staff. The Transfer Station will be closed Monday to the public.

The temperature was milder today, but a major winter storm is heading our way. We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. At this time the heaviest snowfall is expected tomorrow evening into Monday morning. Travel will be very treacherous.

Fairfield, CT — The Fairfield Police Department continues to actively investigate the armed robbery and home invasion that occurred during the early morning hours of February 19, 2026, in the area of Candlewood Road. Officers responded shortly before 2:30 AM, immediately secured the victims, and established a strong perimeter while deploying significant police resources to the area. Through coordinated efforts, four suspects or persons of interest were taken into custody within a short period of time. The victims were not harmed, no officers were injured, and at no point was there a specific threat directed toward any school or the general public.

This investigation involved extensive collaboration between Patrol Officers, the Investigative Services Division, the State’s Attorney’s Office, Fairfield Public Schools leadership, Town officials, and our local, state, and federal partners. Out of an abundance of caution and based on proximity to the incident, McKinley Elementary School and Fairfield Warde High School were closed while officers worked to safely resolve what was determined to be an isolated situation.

Fairfield Police Chief Michael E. Paris issued the following statement:
“Let me be absolutely clear. If you come into the Town of Fairfield with the intent to commit a crime, you should fully expect that the Fairfield Police Department will find you, and we will arrest you. Our officers are highly trained, professional, and relentless when it comes to protecting this community. We will not tolerate individuals who believe they can victimize our residents or threaten the safety of our neighborhoods.

I could not be prouder of the men and women of the Fairfield Police Department. Their response to this incident reflects the very best of policing. Every day, they represent the Town of Fairfield with integrity and dedication, and this incident is yet another example of their exceptional
work.”

The Fairfield Police Department remains committed to transparency while also protecting the integrity of this active and ongoing investigation. As additional verified information becomes available, it will be released through official department communication channels.

Due to icing on roads and sidewalks, the Fairfield Public Schools and Town Hall will be operating on a two hour delay on February 11. Town offices will open at 10:30am. Take it slow if you need to head out this morning.

As you head out to shovel, don't forget to clear snow from fire hydrants!

As reported yesterday, all Town offices and the Fairfield Public Schools are closed today.

While the worst of the storm is behind us, DPW is still clearing and salting our roads and travel is still hazardous.

Please stay home if you can and take it slow if you need to venture out. Be careful when clearing snow from sidewalks and driveways and please do not clear snow onto the road.

Stay safe, check on your neighbors and dress warm! It's cold out there!
