I need to clarify my pre shot routine.
I need to pick the club, and stand behind to get the target and to get the line.
Then I need to set up to the ball and get the feel for the shot,including path.
Vocalizing the intent of the shot shape is a key.
" I'm gonna hit a little cut in there"
" Im gonna draw it off that bunker"
Etc.
Make a plan,
Then let feel decide the shape of it.
Yeah.
Going to try that at Camas Meadows this weekend

A Carefree swing doesnt mean Careless

Pick a ball that wont scuff that bad, spins a little,doesn't feel like a rock.
Experiment with different compression.
Slower swing ,....lower compression.

I just changed drivers.
Reg flex instead of senior. Titleist TSR instead of Mavrik.
3 year old technology instead of 8.
Maybe 5 yards of distance better.
Maybe.
I did an experiment 15 years ago.
Bought sleeves of every manufacturer. Cheap,expensive, in between.
5 yards at most difference.
I cant afford the latest and greatest.
Never could
I try and play the best I can afford.
Bottom line.
Except for putters.
I hit it straighter but not longer. I probably average the same from 15 years ago...
Most stuff out there ,doesnt matter the brand,or flex. It all goes the same.

Bunker play.
Soft sand,open the face,swing firm.
Firm PNW sand / concrete,
Slightly less open ,
Swing hard.

What happens to your golf swing when you use a forward press?
Why did my contact improve?
Why did my irons straighten up.and fly right?
Instead of missing way left or hitting high pushes right, my dispersion tightened.
All.i did was make a concentrated effort to start with small forward press.
Idk,but it worked....

Then just hit it like that, to get that result...

I must remember my pre shot routine when putting. When im picking the line behind the ball I need to pick.out a spot 12 inches in front of the ball on my intended line.An intermediate target, just like I do on every othe club in my bag.Also i need to do this with bunker shots as well.
