AREA CHURCHES WORKING TOGETHER TO SERVE OTHERS - AN ECUMENICAL MINISTRY IN PICKAWAY COUNTY.
12 very generous and mission minded local Churches recently collected breakfast foods that will be made available to “anyone” in need in our county through the 24 outdoor food pantry cupboards in our coalition.
In May, The Community Cupboards’ steering committee mailed a postcard to 89 Pickaway County Churches inviting them to collect breakfast foods during the month of June, then followed up this mailing with phone calls, texts, and emails. All the churches in the county except the 13 Churches that already participate by having a Community Cupboard on site and our home Church for the Community Cupboards’ program were invited to participate.
12 Churches (of various denominations) joined in, and all did a wonderful job collecting and donating various breakfast foods. We are very, very thankful for the fantastic support and donations received from our Faith based community and not just for this June breakfast foods collection, but on an ongoing basis year around. Dozens of local houses of faith reach out repeatedly all year long, every year supporting those in need in our community in numerous ways.
With an estimated one out of every 4 people in our county struggling financially and with many children affected by this struggle, these donations will be very helpful to those students and families on summer break from school as well as others that are struggling.
Though there are many Churches in our county that we can praise for their kindness and outreach, we are taking this opportunity to specifically thank both those that participated in this Breakfast Foods Donation Event along with those that participate every day by supporting a “Community Cupboard”
(outdoor food pantry cupboard) at their location.

Note: Though St. Joseph Catholic has one of our Community Cupboards at their Parish House and were not asked to donate, they reached out and collected and donated in addition to supporting their very own Community Cupboard…. a very unselfish act of generosity.
Note: Though St. Philip Episcopal and Heidelberg Church maintain their very own “blessing box” (not part of our coalition of 24 cupboards), they too, also generously chose to collect and donate to help those throughout our entire county.
