Meeting with Korean Logistics Companies in the U.S. Organized
by the Korean Government and CSCML:

On the evening of Sept. 25, the Korean Minister of Oceans
and Fisheries and representatives of Korean logistics
companies in the United States met at a restaurant in New
Jersey. It was the first time the Korean Minister of Oceans
and Fisheries had ever traveled to the United States to
meet with representatives of Korean logistics companies
doing business in the United States. They discussed the
challenges and solutions that Korean logistics companies
are experiencing in the United States.

The event was attended by the Minister of Oceans,
Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Korea, the Director
General of the Office of Maritime Policy, the Maritime
Affairs Section of the Korean Embassy in the United States,
the President of the Korea Maritime Institute, the Founder
and executive Director of the NJCU-KMI CSCML Center,
HMM, LG-CNS, LX-Pantos, Panocean, Taewoog Logistics, CJ
Logistics USA, AIF, and Glovis.

We hope that Korean logistics companies in the U.S. will
grow and prosper as a bridge between the Korean and U.S.
economies. CSCML will do its best to support the continued
growth of Korean logistics companies in the United States.

2024 Korea-U.S. Supply Chain Logistics Conference

As of today, the NJCU-KMI Center for Supply Chain and Maritime Logistics end their second batch of student internships. New Jersey City University students Brianna Rodriguez, Soyeon Park, and Yurim Kim celebrate their final day as student interns for the Center. JiWon Ryu also celebrates her final day as a student intern for the NJCU Supply Chain and Demand Analytics Technology Lab (SCDAT). The faculty and students celebrated together to reminisce on their time knowing each other and the work they have done.

Thank you to our student interns for their hard work over the past few months! Good luck on your bright future ahead!

On August 21st-August 24th, Dr. EunSu Lee, Dr. SUNGWOO LEE, Soyeon Park, Duwon Kim, and JiWon Ryu attended the US-Korea Conference (UKC) 2024 (Korean American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA)), which held the theme of "The Next Era of Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship with Artificial Intelligence". All five made different presentations regarding their reports or posters. Below is the information regarding their presentations:

The NJCU students and faculty not only represented New Jersey City University, but also the Njcu-Kmi Center for Supply Chain and Maritime Logistics and the NJCU Supply Chain and Demand Analytics Technology Lab (SCDAT).

Lastly, Congratulations to Duwon Kim for winning the best paper award for Track C8!

On June 25th, 2024, the NJCU-KMI Center for Supply Chain and Maritime Logistics hosted a panel discussion at the National Strategic Information Center, National Assembly Library, in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea.

This event was hosted by the NJCU-KMI Center for Supply Chain & Maritime Logistics and sponsored by New Jersey City University, NJCU School of Business, and the KMI 한국해양수산개발원 Korea Maritime Institute. The panel discussed Global Supply Chain Risk Management (Cybersecurity, Geography, Environment, and Finance) with attendance and participation from KMI 한국해양수산개발원 Korea Maritime Institute, Inha University and both Dr. SUNGWOO LEE and Dr. EunSu Lee. Dr. Marvin C. Walker, Interim Dean of School of Business, Dean of Professional Studies at NJCU joined and presented for the panel as well.

[보도자료] 한국해양수산개발원(KMI), 북미 물류시장 동향 정보지 발간

- 우리 기업의 북미시장 진출을 위한 현장기반 물류정보 제공 -

한국해양수산개발원(KMI, 원장 김종덕)은 7월 3일 북미 물류시장 동향과 물류정책을 현지 전문가의 시각에서 분석한 “북미 물류동향”을 발간하였다. 앞으로 본 동향지는 격월 단위로 발간될 예정이다.

본 동향지는 한국해양수산개발원이 2023년 6월 설립한 KMI-NJCU 한미물류공급망센터(센터장 이성우)에서 북미 현지 전문가들의 협조를 얻어 발간하며,

글로벌 공급망 재편에 따른 북미 물류시장 변화에 대해 우리 기업이 잘 대응할 수 있도록 도움이 되고자 발간하게 되었다.

한국해양수산개발원 김종덕 원장은 “한국의 대미 투자가 158억 달러(’19년)에서 277억 달러(’23년)로 코로나 이전 대비 1.8배 증가하였으며,

미국에 대한 외국인 투자 규모도 동기간 1,966억 달러에서 2,686억 달러로 증가하였다.

이에 따라 다양한 물류서비스 필요성이 제기되는 시점에서 KMI가 북미 물류시장에 대한 현장형 정보를 제공하게 되어 의미가 크다고 생각한다.

앞으로 정보지의 내용이 더욱 충실히 구성되도록 노력해 가겠다”라고 밝혔다.

As an undergraduate research assistant for the Supply Chain and Demand Analytics and Technology Lab (SCDAT), Jiwon Ryu has begun creating a Virtual Reality Simulation for the Lab. Jiwon Ryu, majoring in Computer Science, has shown an interest in various specifics such as artificial intelligence through past projects and wanting to enhance her VR system development skills in this project.

As of now, Jiwon’s project is about 60% done, allowing for an audience of people to take it for a current test run. Jiwon and Dr. EunSu Lee worked together as investigators to demonstrate the project for June 19th, at the NJCU School of Business. Not only did the audience members get the opportunity to see the Virtual Reality Simulation on a screen, but many also had the opportunity to join in and experience it for themselves. The ‘Building VR/AR Simulation for Transforming Supply Chain and Logistics Education’ project is being funded by the NJCU-KMI Center for Supply Chain and Maritime Logistics.
