In remembrance of Andy Griffith, who died today at the age of 86, we are posting a copy of the program from his junior recital at UNC in 1948. He sang with the UNC Men’s Glees Club and performed in several student operetta productions, graduating in 1949.

When Mr. Griffith was on campus in 2005 to donate his papers to the Southern Historical Collection, he stopped by the Music Library briefly and delighted us all when he told us he’d worked for the Music Library as a student!

DHS BAND CAMP 2012
Due to the law passed at the end of spring semester requiring dates to be pushed back starting this school year, band camp dates have been changed to align with the new the school calender. The new dates for band camp will be August 6 - 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p. m. with a one hour lunch break each day from 12 - 1.
I realize these dates are quite different from our original dates, however, camp needs to line up with the beginning of the school year. This prevents down time between the end of camp and after school rehearsals beginning on the first day of school. Please be patient with us as we work through this new school schedule. Please pass this information along to any and all returning and upcoming rookie band members!
