What if challenging behaviour isn’t just something to stop but something to understand? 💛

Connection doesn’t always need a big conversation or the perfect words.

Sometimes it’s putting down the phone. Sitting beside them. Listening without fixing, rushing or trying to fill the silence.

In Seen, Joe Williams reminds us that one of the most powerful things we can offer our children is also one of the simplest: our presence.

Because sometimes, being truly there is where connection begins. 🤍

There are so many “shoulds” in parenting.

How our children should sleep. How they should behave. How we should respond. How calm, patient and consistent we should be.

But sometimes those expectations become so loud that we stop listening to ourselves and to the child in front of us.

What if we got a little more curious about the “shoulds” we’re carrying?

Not to get parenting perfect, but to make more room for connection, compassion and what actually works for our families. 🤍

It’s easy to focus on the behaviour we want to stop.

The yelling. The refusal. The meltdown. The pushing back.

But what happens when we get curious about what might be underneath it?

Are they overwhelmed? Disconnected? Tired? Frustrated? Needing reassurance or help regulating something that feels too big?

It doesn’t mean every behaviour is okay. It means we can hold boundaries while still trying to understand the child in front of us.

Sometimes the question isn’t “How do I stop this?”

It’s “What are they trying to tell me?” 🤍

Movement isn’t a distraction from learning, it’s part of learning. 🧠✨

ParentTV expert, Chelsea from Body Brain Learning explains why movement, joy and whole-body experiences are so important for helping young people stay regulated, curious and connected to learning.

When the nervous system becomes overstimulated, we might see fidgeting, frustration, big emotions or difficulty engaging.

Sometimes the answer isn’t asking a child to sit still and focus harder, it’s giving their body what it needs to learn.

What if you were always enough?
Before the expectations, the comparisons and all the messages about who you should be, there was simply you, worthy of love and belonging.
Lael Stone reminds us that so much of the work we do on ourselves isn’t about becoming someone better. It’s about remembering who we were before the world told us otherwise.
Coming home to the messy bits, the beautiful bits, the mistakes and the triumphs and knowing that all of it is worthy of love.
Maybe we don’t need to become enough.
Maybe we just need to remember that we always were.

When we begin to notice our own triggers, sit with our emotions and meet ourselves with a little more compassion, we create more space to do the same for our children.

We don’t have to get it right all the time. We can pause. Repair. Stay curious. Keep learning.

Because sometimes the most powerful work we do as parents isn’t about changing our children at all, it’s about understanding ourselves.

True connection with others starts with true connection to yourself.

My soul and heart and hope is full after a magical 4 days in Cairns at the Wow Australia festival surrounded by smart, funny, brave and kind women. To have found myself in a place where it’s completely safe to be exactly who you are in all of your imperfections is a gift like no other. Someone asked Dame Quentin Bryce how she managed to stay in the work for so many years and she said you must make sure you keep making time to look at the art and lie in the grass 💛💛

Separation can be an emotional and overwhelming time. When emotions are high, it can help to pause before making big parenting or financial decisions.

Focus first on what matters most: support, safety, stability and practical short-term arrangements for your family. 🤍 Love this advice from Attwood laywers.
