NITEN ICHI-RYU: KENJUTSU

Kenjutsu is a classical yet military martial arts that was used during the time of the Samurai, Kenjutsu was an art devised for the battle field during confrontations in war or in duals. Niten Ichi-ryu, which loosely translated as "the school of the strategy of two heavens as one", is a koryu (ancient school), transmitting a style of classical Japanese swordsmanship conce

ived by the famous warrior Miyamoto Musashi. Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu is mainly known for the two-sword; katana and wakizashi; kenjutsu techniques named by the founder and legendary swordsman dualist and warrior Miyamoto Musashi. Around 1640, Musashi intended to pass on his art to three successors from among his more than thousand students; specifically, to Terao Magonojo, his younger brother Kyumanosuke and to Furuhashi Sozaemon. Miyomoto Musashi handed down his writings on military strategy known as the "Ihon go rin no sho", later in another century an English version was written called the "The Book of Five Rings". It is considered one of the greatest books on military strategy ever composed. Shortly before his death, Musashi also wrote the Dokkodo (Going My Way"). It seems to be a list of rules that one should try to follow in life; in essence each rule has very deep meaning steeped in Buddhist precepts. Niten is the only school that is invited to demonstrate annually for the Emperor and the Imperial Council of Japan. There are five teaching levels in this art and the highest is known as a "Menkyo Kaiden",(Head Instructor). In this system there are always three Menkyo Kaidens and upon the death of the "Soke"- Head of the organization, one of the Menkyo Kaidens is appointed by the others to take the place of the desist Soke. ISHIKAWA: KENJUTSU

This system is a lot more of a liberal system and was used by the military police during the 1800's in Japan. Ishikawa is a system that has roots and strategy barrowed from Tzun Tzu; The Art of War. Ishikawa is based on illusiveness and deception as compared to Niten which is extremely aggressive and direct. Sarkissian Sensei, has been appointed by Niten Ichi-ryu as officially the sole representative in Latin America and is a full recognized Sensei Instructor under this system and Ishikawa Kenjutsu, and has had personal training by both Batayola Sensei: "Head Instructor of Kenjutsu in Philippines, and was a direct student who trained privately under Hyakutake Sama Sensei; One of the great Menkyo Kaidens of Hyoho Niten Ichi-Ryu Kenjutsu. Hyakutake Sama (lord) is also recognized as being one of the highest authorities in the world on the Japanese Sword and the use of their weaponry do to his Mastery on multiple Japanese sword arts.
