Remember. Resist. Rise.
67 years ago, Tibetans rose with courage to defend their freedom.
Today, on March 10, 2026, we marched through the streets of Toronto to keep their spirit alive and remind the world that Tibet’s struggle continues.

March 10, 1959.

Tibetans in Lhasa rose up to defend their freedom, their land, and their identity. The uprising was crushed, but the spirit of Tibet was never broken.

Today we remember their courage and stand with Tibetans inside Tibet who continue the peaceful struggle for justice and freedom.

Remember. Resist. Rise.

Losar Tashi Delek! Happy Tibetan New Year, 2153, the Year of the Fire Horse.

On this Losar, we offer our heartfelt prayers:

May this new year bring continued strength, unity, and purpose to our community.

May it deepen our shared commitment to the Tibetan cause.

May it bring us closer to the day when Tibetans inside Tibet and in exile can reunite, and when His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama can return to Tibet, our rightful homeland🙏

As Prime Minister Mark Carney visits China, we remind him that human rights cannot be sidelined.

Human Rights Watch warns that China’s deepening repression is not only devastating for people inside the country. It directly affects Canada’s security, sovereignty, and laws. From transnational repression targeting Canadians to forced labour embedded in supply chains that reach Canadian markets, these abuses contradict Canada’s national interests and values.

Canada also knows, from its own history, the lasting harm caused when children are forcibly separated from their families, language, and culture.

We urge Prime Minister Carney to uphold Canadian values and ensure they are reflected in every relationship Canada builds.

Last week, V-TAG Canada members joined the three-day 2025 Youth Leadership and Capacity Building Workshop organized by the Office of Tibet, the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Center, the Canada Tibet Committee, and the Tibet Fund.

The workshop brought together young Tibetan students and professionals from Toronto, Ottawa, and Calgary for leadership development and hands-on advocacy training.

During the workshop, our National Coordinator for Canada, Tenzin Yangkee, shared insights on youth-led organizing and advocacy, highlighting the work of V-TAG Canada and how grassroots, peer-led movements empower young Tibetans to take ownership of advocacy and community engagement across Canada.

Thank you to the organizers for creating this space for learning and collaboration. We look forward to more workshops like this in the future!!

Earlier this month, we wrapped up our first book, Voice for the Voiceless, His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s latest book!

Meeting week after week, we read together and sat with difficult and honest conversations. These sessions helped us think more deeply about the ongoing dialogue and continued efforts that His Holiness and Tibetan representatives have pursued with the Chinese leadership. They also deepened our appreciation for the perseverance of so many Tibetans who have continued to move forward in the face of so many disappointments.

As His Holiness ends the book with an appeal, it left us with a sense of hope and a shared responsibility as youth to carry this work forward, ensure the movement remains strong, and be a voice for the voiceless🙏

Yesterday, V-TAG members joined Tibetan organizations across Canada for Tibet Lobby Day on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. We were honored to be joined by Richard Gere, a long-time supporter and true champion of the Tibetan movement.

In the chamber, three parliamentarians raised the issue of Tibet and called on the Government of Canada to recognize the Year of Compassion in honor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday. They also called on the House to reaffirm its support for the religious freedom of Tibetans, their right to choose, without interference, the succession of the Dalai Lama, and to recognize the historical status of Tibet as an occupied nation.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stood in solidarity with Tibet. We remain committed to continuing our work in advancing the Tibetan cause.

Last week, we hosted our first in-person Book Club meeting — a truly engaging conversation to kick off our reading journey.

We were honored to be joined by Tsewang Phuntsok la, former Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration to the Latin American countries. A heartfelt thank-you to Tsewang la and to everyone who attended and helped make it such a meaningful start.

We’re excited to continue growing this community — creating an open and welcoming space to reflect, connect, and learn together through this important book.
Swipe to the end to see our November calendar and join us for the next session on Thursday, Nov 6 (Chapters 3–5), 7 - 8pm— this will be a virtual meet.

Last week, V-Tag Canada joined in celebrating the 18th anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama receiving the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal.

We were especially honoured to be joined by Ama Jetsun Pemala and Kungo Tenpa la, whose presence made this celebration even more meaningful.

During the event, our National Coordinator, Tenzin Yangkee, shared V-Tag’s vision and introduced our Book Club — part of our Year of Compassion series, honouring His Holiness’s nine decades of remarkable life and service.

Our Book Club journey begins next week as we discuss Chapters 1 & 2 of “Voice for the Voiceless.” The first meeting will be in person, with a Zoom option for participants joining from outside Toronto.

This is an open and inclusive space — everyone is welcome to share in English or Tibetan. Use the link in our bio to sign up and join the conversation!
