Today, our BNHS family joins our nation in mourning the heartbreaking loss of five beautiful young souls. Among them is one of our very own Queens, Diamond Stubbs.
Some names become a prophecy. Diamond was one of them. Strong, precious, beautiful, and rare, she was a priceless gift to all who knew her. She possessed a beautiful, kind spirit that made everyone around her feel seen. She was joyful, multitalented, compassionate, and a natural-born leader whose smile and presence could brighten any room.
Diamond will forever be etched into the history of the Bahamas National High School Leadership Conference & Pageant as the very first Miss Old Bight High School and a proud member of our inaugural BNHS Class of 2024. She helped lay the foundation for the legacy that so many of you now proudly carry.
One of the things we will miss most are her check-ins. Diamond was always asking "when the BNHS reunion?" , wanting updates on what was happening with the organization, and also keeping us updated with all she was doing and her accomplishments. Diamond had also promised that one day she would return to volunteer and pour back into the very organization that helped shape her journey.
While we are heartbroken that we will never have that opportunity, we are grateful for the memories she gave us and the impact she left behind. As we grieve together, let us also celebrate the life she lived. Let us continue to lead with kindness, serve with humility, and love one another deeply, the very qualities she displayed so effortlessly. The greatest way we can honor her memory is by carrying forward the spirit, excellence, and joy that she embodied.
Please continue to keep her family, friends, schoolmates, and the entire Old Bight community and the island of Cat Island in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
Though her time with us was far too short, her legacy will forever remain a part of BNHS. While we mourn her passing, we remain grateful that we had the privilege of witnessing the beauty of her life.
