To equip the fourth year students with real-life employment readiness through on-the-spot interviews and career coaching sessions, the Job Placement Office (JPO) of Gensantos Foundation College (GFI), in partnership with the Guidance Office and Counseling, Peer Facilitator, Paragon, Arts Club, and the Medic Team, successfully held its first Job Fair at the GFI Recreational and Events Area on April 27.
The program commenced with opening remarks delivered by Ruth G. Bodegas, LPT, followed by inspirational messages from Assistant Department Head of PESO Gensan, Nurhasan Juanday, and Labor and Employment Officer III, Jerylle Marie B. Misa.
In her speech, Misa emphasized the importance of adaptability in a rapidly changing world, stating, โThe world is changing, and you must be flexible enough to adapt to it.โ
She also shared her professional experiences and the valuable lessons she learned along the way. Meanwhile, Juanday expressed his hope that every student would successfully secure employment after graduation.
Participating companies in the Job Fair included Phirst Park Homes, Asialink Finance Corporation, Dalton Pawnshop & Jewelry Inc., Gensan Perfect Image Photo Lab, VXI, Home Solutions Depot Plus, Cibeles Insurance Corporation, KCC Mall of Gensan, Sanford Marketing Corporation, SM Supermarket, Golden Haven, Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), Dadiangas Glass & Construction Depot, Inc., and Avior Hotel.
The short programme concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Amor Irish D. Lozano, CPA, MBA, together with Juanday and Misa, followed by the giving of certificates to the resource speakers, carried out by Job Placement Officer Janine Nicolette Cantero, RN, and Ericka V. Pita, JPO-Alternate.
In addition, the job fair served as a practical training ground where graduating students were able to experience actual job application processes, enhance their communication skills, and build confidence in engaging with industry professionals.
