Welcome back, GIS! We’re so excited to have everyone back on campus and can’t wait for another great year with Gamma Iota Sigma!

We have an exciting lineup of events coming up, with plenty of opportunities to connect, learn, network, and get involved. And the best part? All upcoming events are FREE to attend! Dues will be due after these events, so come out, meet the chapter, and see what GIS is all about before then.

This August, two of our Executive Board members, Daniel Sutherland and Alexandra Konmegne, represented our chapter at the GIS Leadership Symposium in Columbus, Ohio.

Throughout the symposium, Daniel and Alexandra had the opportunity to learn new strategies for growing and strengthening our chapter, develop their leadership skills, and connect with Gamma Iota Sigma chapter leaders from across the nation.

Last month, our Gamma Iota Sigma members volunteered at Discover Actuarial Science, a free multi-day summer camp at the UNL College of Business!

Alongside other actuarial science students, they helped high school upperclassmen explore the actuarial profession and discover how math and statistics are used to manage financial risk.

As our Communications Director, Alexandra Konmegne, shared:

“I had an amazing time serving as a camp guide this year! It was incredibly rewarding to help high school students learn about actuarial science. This camp holds a special place in my heart because I attended it as a high school student, and it played a major role in helping me discover my passion for actuarial science and choose it as my college major. I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back and make a difference in others’ lives, just as this camp made a difference in mine.”

As graduation week arrives, we’re taking time to celebrate our incredible senior members of Gamma Iota Sigma. We asked a few of our graduating seniors to reflect on their experiences, memories, and growth throughout their time in GIS.

We are so proud of everything they have accomplished and grateful for the impact they’ve made on our chapter. Congratulations to the Class of 2026 — we can’t wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish in your future endeavors! ❤️🎓

Last Thursday, three of our Executive Members gave us a glimpse into their final week of classes! From 9 AM to 8 PM, they shared a “day in the life,” highlighting the behind-the-scenes of their busy schedules.

Great way to wrap up the year! Last week, our chapter partnered with Pacific Life for an engaging case study where we applied our actuarial science knowledge, explored new concepts, and tackled real-world scenarios. It was an insightful and hands-on experience that brought everything we’ve learned this year full circle. Huge thank you to Pacific Life for an incredible session!

April's Member Spotlight for our Gamma Iota Sigma Chapter is Chandler Nguyen. Chandler is a freshman and has been involved in a lot of the volunteering that we have been organizing. Way to go .dlernguyen19 !
