This week, we asked our Sunflower children:

🌻📚 Literacy Day with our Sunflowers! 🌍✨
Today the Sunflowers enjoyed reading The Children Around the World, learning about Deepa, her home and some of her favourite foods. This sparked a lovely conversation about our own favourite foods, linking beautifully with our All About Me topic. 💛
The children then had a go at making their own chapattis, developing their physical skills through stretching, patting and rolling the dough. 🫓👩‍🍳
And, of course, the day started with an early morning workout with Catherine, getting our bodies moving and ready for a fun-filled day! 💪🌻

🦖📚 National Literacy Day with our little Shoots! 🌱
Following their ever-popular dinosaur interest, our Shoots enjoyed reading Who Will You Meet on Dinosaur Street? and bringing the story to life through play! 🦕✨
The children created a special dinosaur tea party, just like in the book, before painting their own dinosaurs with paintbrushes on the tuff tray. 🎨
They also enjoyed some Hive time, building and exploring with the train tracks — and, of course, spending time enjoying some of their favourite books! 🚂📖💛

Our little Spouts and Seedlings have been getting creative with paint! Using their hands to explore different textures, colours and colour mixing, the children have been developing their sensory awareness, creativity and fine motor skills.
Most importantly, we’ve been learning that creating and exploring together is even more fun — sharing, taking turns and celebrating our friends’ ideas along the way. 🌻🤝💛

🌟💛 Our Shoots have been enjoying lots of activities linked to our All About Me topic! 👧🧒✨
We’ve been singing and moving along to Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, helping us to learn about and identify different parts of our bodies. 🎶🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️
We’ve also been exploring our emotions through The Colour Monster 📚🌈, talking about our different feelings and beginning to recognise and express our emotions.
And of course, reading and drawing are always a favourite! 📖🎨 The children have loved getting creative and sharing their ideas through stories and mark-making. ✨

🌱🌿 Our Seedlings & Shoots have been enjoying some outdoor adventures in the garden! 🌞💚
The children had lots of fun rolling the tyres, climbing over the wooden obstacles and exploring the different surfaces around them. 🛞🪵✨
These experiences are a fantastic way to develop gross motor skills, balance, coordination and strength, while encouraging confidence, problem-solving and physical exploration. 💪🌱

🌻🛒 Our Sunflowers have been busy helping to bring in the shopping! What a fantastic opportunity to develop their gross motor skills as they carried and transported the shopping, while also building confidence and independence. 💪✨
The children loved taking on leadership roles, helping one another and showing how capable they are when given the opportunity to take responsibility. 🌻🤍
