Bentley Park State College Performing Arts Auditorium will see the City of Cairns Feis happening from 1.30 pm on Saturday Afternoon, 29th August commencing at 1.30 pm.

The City of Cairns Association is pleased to welcome Ms Vicki Lynagh ADCRG BG from Brisbane as our adjudicator.

Born to Musicians (one parent specialising in Irish Dance music in particular) Vicki was destined to be involved in a musical career of some form. With successfully completion of her TCRG Examination in the 1970s she became the first TCRG in Queensland. She later became one of the first ADCRGs in Queensland as well.

As a competing dancer, Vicki was also one of the first Dancers to compete and gain a placing at National level. On gaining her TCRG qualifications Vicki conducted Dance Classes at LYNAGH IRISH DANCING which has operated in Brisbane for over 50 years. Many of Vicki's pupils have competed successfully at State, National and World Championship levels, with many having since gone on to become successful TCRGs themselves.

Vicki has been honoured for her dedication to Irish Dancing with a Life Membership of Australian Irish Dancing Association and a Grandam Award from CLRG (2009). She was also been awarded Grade Examiner status (2013).

In recent years Vicki has adjudicated at several other National Championships both in Australia and overseas. She has also been honoured to have judged at several World Championships – the most recent at 2019 World Championships in Greensboro, USA.

With her passion and love of Irish Dancing, and her musical background, Vicki has a well-developed appreciation of strong rhythm and timing - an appreciation which she emphasises and instils in her Pupils, and which carries through in her adjudication style.

Vicki lives in Brisbane, close to her family of two adult children – Liam (a Pipe Band Drummer), Brighid (an ADCRG who teaches with Vicki at Lynagh Irish Dancing), and three grandsons.

Wishing every dancer competing today the very best of luck and hope you enjoy the experience.

The City of Cairns Tartan Day is happening this Saturday 29th August at Bentley Park State College Performing Arts Auditorium commencing at 9.00 am. We have pleasure in welcoming our Highland Dancing Adjudicator, Ms Hayley Boyd from Brisbane.

Hayley began her dancing journey at just three years old with the Ann Roberts School of Dance in Townsville, training across a range of styles including RAD ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and lyrical. In 2009, at the age of ten, she was introduced to highland dancing under the guidance of Leoné Savage. A move to Brisbane in 2014 saw Hayley continue her highland training with renowned teacher Margaret Paterson at the Thistle Highland Dancing Studio.

While studying to become a primary school teacher, Hayley achieved her National Dancing Association of Australia (NDAAI) teaching certification in 2018. She has proudly performed with OzScot Australia at Military Tattoos around the world—an experience she continues to be involved in today.

Hayley graduated from university in 2020 and has since enjoyed teaching across a variety of year levels in primary education. In 2025, she established her school’s first-ever competition dance team, combining her professional and personal passions.

A significant milestone in Hayley’s dance career came in 2024 when she successfully passed the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (RSOBHD) Judges Test in Scotland after years of dedicated preparation. As an adjudicator, Hayley is passionate about fostering excellence in highland dancing and continuing her lifelong dedication to the art of highland dance.
