The Giant Hogweed Project Community Oriented Web-Based Environmental Science & Awareness Project An academic program is also available for use in high school science classes.

The Giant Hogw**d Project is a participatory research project open to all residents of Latvia. Participants act as research partners by helping to collect spatial data of locations of Giant Howgeed - a poisonous, invasive w**d - throughout Latvia. Data is uploaded through the project website, and used to produce maps indicating where Giant Hogw**d in currently growing, and where it may potentially spread. In this way, residents can assume an active role in solving a serious environmental issue. Giant Hogw**d is a serious human health threat (it can cause severe burns and blindness) and poses a significant risk to the natural biodiversity of many countries, including Latvia.

The Giant Hogw**d Project is currently working to build a citizen army with the intent of eliminating Giant Hogw**d (Public Enemy #1) from the Latvian landscape.
