Art Therapy at Notre Dame of Maryland University

Natalia demonstrates her commitment to supporting vulnerable populations through both academic and professional work. In her role as a 988 Lifeline Crisis Hotline Specialist. Her contributions in this role reflect a profound commitment to public service and community wellbeing.

In her graduate clinical training, Natalia completed an internship providing art therapy services to adults with severe developmental disabilities, where she designed and facilitated therapeutic art groups and collaborated closely with interdisciplinary support teams. She approaches her clinical work with a thoughtful balance of structure, flexibility, and genuine care.

The department is excited to announce new faculty appointments for the coming academic year! Welcome to Barbara Van Der Vossen, who, after serving as an associate member of the department, will be joining the graduate program as a full-time faculty member beginning July. And congratulations to Julia Volonts on becoming Chair and moving into the role of Undergraduate Program Director. We are and grateful for the growth and health of the programs!

That’s a wrap, 2025-2026! 🙌 Fourier Hall will be closed for the summer, beginning this weekend, for select refurbishment. Relatively tidied spaces will await students’ and faculty’s late August return! ❤️

Tonight we celebrated our graduating seniors, welcomed incoming undergraduate program director/advisor, Julia Volonts, into the role, and reflected on a wonderful year of undergrad art therapy! Wishing ALL the ATP undergrads a restful and FUN summer break!

Congratulations going out to May-graduating art therapy senior, Morgan, on a fantastic capstone presentation and workshop today. Her practicum supported the work of progressive art studio, , artists and staff this spring. Connecting with a workshop she offered to artists, we also enjoyed creating small imagined worlds this morning! 🎓
