Green University Welcomes New Students Through Summer 2026 Freshersโ€™ Orientation Program

Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) warmly welcomed its newly admitted students through the Summer Semester 2026 Freshersโ€™ Orientation Program on Saturday. The program marked the beginning of their academic journey and introduced them to the universityโ€™s learning environment, values, and campus life.

The day-long program was organized in three parts: the Central Orientation Session, Departmental Orientation Programs, and a Cultural Program. These sessions helped freshers understand university life, academic opportunities, and student activities.

The Central Orientation Session began at 9:30 AM at the GUB Multipurpose Hall. It was anchored by Sumaiya Sultana from the Department of Journalism and Media Communication and Wasif Iqbal from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of Green University. Professor Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor, attended as the Special Guest. Dr. Shahadat Khan, Founder and CEO of TallyKhata, was present as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Md. Ashraf Hossain, Director General (Additional Charge) of the Department of Telecommunications, attended as the Guest of Honor. Captain (Navy) Shaikh Mohammad Salahuddin (Retd.), Registrar of GUB, delivered the welcome address.

In his welcome speech, the Registrar introduced the universityโ€™s vision, mission, academic environment, campus facilities, student responsibilities, and key academic and administrative leaders. He encouraged students to maintain discipline, professionalism, and active participation in university life.

A key highlight of the program was an inspiring speech by GUB alumnus Md. Roman Sarkar (Batch 193, Department of Computer Science and Engineering). He is currently pursuing a fully funded PhD at the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), China. He shared his journey from GUB to an international research institution and encouraged students to work hard, stay focused, and continue learning.

Speaking as the Guest of Honor, Mr. Md. Ashraf Hossain highlighted the importance of telecommunications and digital systems in Bangladeshโ€™s development. He encouraged students to build strong skills and prepare for the fast-changing digital economy.

Professor Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed spoke about the importance of good academic results, ethical values, and teamwork. He advised students to build a strong academic base and develop good character for future success.

In his speech, Dr. Shahadat Khan encouraged students to think creatively, become entrepreneurs, and continue learning throughout life. He shared that students should use their university time to build both technical and personal skills.

In his address as Chair of the program, Professor Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin welcomed the freshers and said that higher education is not only about getting a degree or a job. It is about building thinking skills, creativity, leadership, and the ability to face challenges.

He also spoke about the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence. He said, โ€œKnowledge is no longer power; the ability to apply knowledge effectively is the real power.โ€ He also added, โ€œArtificial Intelligence will not replace you; those who know how to use AI will lead the future.โ€

He further said that students should balance technology with ethics, humanity, and responsibility. He encouraged them to become globally competitive while staying connected to their values and society.

He also confirmed that GUB will continue to focus on quality education, innovation, research, and practical learning to prepare students for future careers.

After the central session, commemorative crests were given to the guests. Students then joined their department orientation sessions, where they met teachers, coordinators, and classmates and learned about their academic programs and university rules.

The program ended with a colorful cultural show featuring music, dance, and recitation by GUB students. The event created a joyful atmosphere and officially welcomed the new students into the GUB family.

Through this orientation program, Green University of Bangladesh once again showed its commitment to providing a friendly, supportive, and student-focused learning environment that helps students grow academically and personally.
