Waihao Downs School Mrs Kere Adams(Principal) teaches 1-2 days in the Rakau room with Mr Craig Robertson teaching 3-4 days. Mrs Kylie Cooper is our secretary.

Waihao Downs School is a small rural school, catering for children from Year 1 - 8 and is situated on the outskirts of Waimate heading towards Kurow on the Hakataramea Highway. Mrs Louise Stringer teaches Pihinga and Mrs Maggie Robertson is in the Kakano room. Mrs Gael Grigg is our specialist teacher, Clare Colvill, Mrs Janine Burke and Mrs Brenda Matthews are our teacher aides. We aim to give children a positive start to schooling and motivate them to be lifelong learners.

Please see the attached notice for out of zone applications for 2027. If you currently live out of zone and already have a child at our school, younger siblings will also require an out of zone enrolment application.

The school has been in contact with NZTA this week regarding the variable speed signs on the northern and southern ends of the school, which have been intermittently flashing. I have received an update from NZTA today, informing us that they are awaiting a satellite antenna, which will help to improve coverage in our area. Until this is installed, the NZTA has asked that all families driving past during school hours please ensure they are extra vigilant.
