Sleep. Dont skimp on it. Its equally as important that you rest and recover as it is to train. You could be robbing yourself of progress by negating that sleep/nap
Sleep allows for hgh to be released, neurological pathways to be established, information processing to occur, muscle building and repair to do its thang. So dont forget to get dem ๐ด.

Gyms can be rough.
Thinking everyone is judging you can be rough.
Being self conscious about your appearance/technique can put people off even entering a gym.
In time however, you come to realise that:
- no one is looking at you
- no one really cares why youre there
- you are more capable than you first though
Then comes the good part, that self esteem is on the up because your body is changing, that confidence is on the rise because youre doing things that you once found difficult or said you couldnt do, your whole attitude about yourself and your abilities changes.
The gym is so much more than a place to be vain, its a place to build character, to get your head right, to work on you and feel fu***ng great for it.
Confidence in yourself feels unbelievable, that feeling of being just genuinely comfortable in your own space and body is something i hope everyone achieves at some point in their fitness journey. It's a great place to be.
If youre searching for that place, or need pointed down the right road, theres a croc wearing pt i know who if shes was chocolate would eat herself. Shes also incredibly sarcastic, good looking and humble. Dont put off bettering yourself for another week/month because of gym anxiety, reach out and let me help you get to your goals.

Fat loss. There is a simple formula for it. Calorie deficit, good habits, consistency over time.
Calorie deficits dont discriminate, no fat loss for over 40s, fat loss for males, fat loss for single mums, fat loss for menopausal-mammies (scroll to 3rd photo to me telling wee jackie all about it)
But the point of this post here is simple. Both clients featured done a few things consistently for 5+ months. They moved more, they ate less than their maintenance(most of the time), they worked hard in the gym and they made some better choices with their nutrition.
If you are not losing weight/fat then you may be calculating something wrong, or overestimating your calorie burn, expenditure. 2 weeks is ample time to see some changes, if nothing is moving composition or scale wise, revise every two weeks and recalculate. Do this time and time again, adjusting when needed to elicit results.
A deficit is the key to fat loss. Plain and simple. A million factors in between but a fact none the less.
Struggling to get to your goals, dont, get someone who knows how to point you on the right path and adjust when needed.

Not me using a drunk picture of me to talk about guidance and being pointed in the right direction ๐ ๐ค
The analogy ill use here is simple. Until you have the right prescription, you didnt know that what you were seeing was off. Personal training is a bit like that. Until you are given the right tools for the job, you may always be missing the mark.
I look to give my clients all the knowledge they need to meet their goals and give them some clarity. Not losing weight, lets break that down. Feeling tired? Lets look at your sleep and what youre eating.
Personal training has always been and will always be more than just having someone count your reps and supervise your session. It should be about guidance, helping clients see the behaviours and habits that may be holding them back from their goals.

Do you find yourself falling victim to the green eyed monster. Annoyed that your progress doesnt mirror that of someone elses or that their transformation, step count, body is better than yours.
Im sure a lot of people can relate to this but one of the most beneficial things you can do is detach from that comparison mindset. It will rob you of any sense of achievement and leave you feeling deflated!
" rest assured weโre heading generally in the right directionโthat we donโt need to constantly compare ourselves with other people or change our mind every three seconds based on new information"
What works for yer pal may not work for you. Different circumstances, different barriers, different motivations. Celebrate YOUR wins, YOUR progress and YOUR journey because if all you ever do is highlight how someone else is doing seemingly better, youll never be satisfied, even if you reach your goal!

Ive ran this bootcamp for years, first thing on a saturday morning for this crazy lot and its honestly been a highlight of my week everyweek!

Although a few short of the whole month, a majority of the month was covered - consistency not perfection - and the goal of forming a habit to post more often has been solidified.
This years approach to new years resolutions is to tackle a different habit every month in the hopes that by the end of the year ive managed to maintain 12 habits regularly than giving up on a normal resolution the moment i fail at it (nail biting always gets me!! ๐คฎ)
Next months target is to prioritise mobility and stretching in the evening. Some videos and pointers will be posted along with some general content and the odd recipe reel. One month down troops! What have you achieved in Jan? ๐คทโโ๏ธ
