Happy 60th birthday to our dear St. Joseph Secondary School Idimangoro, Agege, Lagos family.
It has really been an adventure for our great school to have witnessed transitions from been a Private school established 60 years ago by the Late Pa Joseph Ukana and Mama Adunni Olufadeke Ukana to a public school when it was forcefully taken over by the then military Governor of Lagos State in 1978 and now a private school when the Lagos State government returned it back to the founders in a messy and dilapidated state after using it for 25 years without any compensation. After the return, all the government Teachers in the school were withdrawn while the school was mandated to ensure that the over 4000 students left behind must enjoy free education till they write their Senior School Certificate Examinations.
We had to run around to make this happen. It costs us several millions to get this done and also restore our structures to what you now see.
Renovation is still on to make our school to be even more conducive for learning.
Despite all these challenges, the Lord has been faithful and we have reasons to thank Him on a special day like this for creating an avenue for all of us to pass through this great school.
On the students' performances, Our Academic track records have been phenomenal. Every year, our students come out with flying colours in all our internal and external examinations, this is due to the fact that we have never compromised standards both in staff recruitment and provision of basic learning facilities for the students' cognitive, affective and psychomotor development.
For those that are yet to visit the school, please feel free to visit our facilities.
On behalf of Mama Olufadeke Ukana (the founder of this school), we want to thank all our parents and Guardians for believing in us. We want to thank all members of staff both teaching and non teaching for their support and love towards the growth of this school. This is not limited to our present staff but to all whose paths have crossed this school. Mr. Awogbindin, Mr Ibiloye, Mrs Asanda, Mr Ogundipe and many more. Let me also specially thank some of our old students individually and through their various sets. They have been wonderful in gifting back to their Alma mater. Sets 1983, 1987-89, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2004, etc. It is a long list. Apologies if i omit any of the sets. Pls DM this page if your set have been omitted.
We will never forget some of our mothers and fathers that have passed through this school as Teachers and Principals. Some are still with us though not as staff but as great supporters and mentors who are always ready to assist when called upon. Mr. Ogunyemi, thank you so much sir, Mama Akinsanmi and Mama Okunaiya, thank you so much ma. We want to equally thank our Mama Jibowu whose indelible Mark on the school cannot be forgotten. And also those not mentioned.
Our prayer is that we shall have reasons to continue to celebrate our selves in happiness, Long life, good health and prosperity.
Happy celebration to all the St Joseph Family.
