New Haven REACH is a student-run volunteer organization rooted in the community that provides 1-on-1 mentoring through the college application process
REACH was founded by New Haven Public School graduates and New Haven Promise Scholars. REACH is run by students at Yale, Southern, UNH, and other local universities working together to help New Haven students who want to go to college but don't know how. REACH offers 1-on-1 mentoring to students whose schools and families can't give them all the information they can't need. REACH targets 1st-generation, low-income, and minority students though all are welcome.

Today is College Opportunity Day of Action at the White House and President Obama has something to say about getting our students into college. Our city's own New Haven Promise is in attendance!

The college application process is stressful and that's why New Haven REACH is dedicated to making it easier for you!
We are a college student-run, non-profit organization that helps New Haven area high students get to college. We are currently accepting applications for our REACH BOLDLY Mentoring Program, which pairs high school students who are applying to college with a personal college student mentor who will guide and support them throughout the college application process. Mentees and mentors meet on a weekly basis to break down the college application process into bite-sized pieces.
Last year, we helped over 70 high school seniors in New Haven. Our students were accepted to American University, University of Connecticut, University of New Haven, Southern Connecticut State University, Fairfield University, Yale University and many more colleges and universities.

Some newly minted college graduates struggle to find work. Others accept jobs for which they feel overqualified. Student debt, meanwhile, has topped $1 trillion. It’s enough to create a wave of questions about whether a college education is still worth it.
A new set of income statistics answers those questions quite clearly:
Yes, college is worth it, and it’s not even close.
MIT economists say there are not enough college graduates in the economy, and that is why they are now paid about TWICE as much as non-graduates.
