Capital City Voices is now in a full partnership with The Levine School of Music in NW Washington DC. Others may know New York Voices or Take 6.

Like similar choirs spreading across the country and around the world, it combines the wonderful quality of the human voice with the hip sound of jazz. Many people first heard the vocal jazz sound in groups likes Manhattan Transfer. Our take on it is uniquely our own, while staying in the tradition of great jazz and great arranging. If you like watching "Glee" or "American Idol", why not put down

Capital City Voices, DC's own jazz choir will perform three songs next Tuesday, May 24 at 8:15 at the Levine Music DC Campus, 2801 Upton Street, NW Washington, DC 20008.

Alison Crockett is our new director, taking over for Wayne Wilentz, who moved to LA in April.

We welcome friends and family to come hear us and learn about how Alison works with our jazz choir. She will conduct a mini-workshop as a part of the concert.

We'll have some wine to share after the performance.

CAPITAL CITY VOICES AT LEVINE
What could be better than combining the wonderful quality of the human voice with the hip sound of jazz? The Capital City Voices is an established, premier jazz choir that has been delighting DC area audiences for over five years and has found a new home at Levine!
Capital City Voices at Levine stays in the tradition of great vocal jazz groups such as Manhattan Transfer and Take 6, but with a style uniquely its own. Mix in a bit of R&B and jazz with a touch of gospel, and you have a recipe for a rewarding (and fun!) vocal experience.

Capital City Voices at Levine welcomes most levels of singers, from beginners to advanced vocalists, semi-professionals, and music teachers. Musical arrangements reflect classic American and Brazilian jazz styles and at each session singers learn something new about music, jazz, and their own voices.

No audition required. The choir meets for two hours each rehearsal, working on both vocal repertoire and general jazz concepts. Periodic public performances are presented.
