We closed out the school year with an unforgettable final week of teamwork, peer encouragement, and celebration! The energy was absolutely electric, highlighted by a fantastic Field Day and a legendary watermelon-eating contest. What a rewarding way to wrap up a great year together!

This year we studied Oceania, Antarctica, and South America. The middle/high school program put on such a fun cultural night to remind us about the diversity and yet the things that unite and connect us to each other! They decorated, dressed up, and sold merchandise they had made in their business program and items from the countries. It was a “must see and experience” event! Thank you for sharing your talents with the rest of the student body and our families!

A fantastic end of the year music performance for our parents, families and friends! Special thanks to our music teacher, Shauna Williams, and to all the students who worked so hard to learn their songs and perform them so well (even and maybe especially despite the wind outside)! Wonderful job!

South America Culture Night

What a beautiful evening of culture, connection, and hands-on learning. Our students explored South America through food, community, and celebration.

From preparation to sharing, they experienced it all:
- Homemade empanadas, carefully filled and baked
- Flavorful Argentinian chimichurri chicken
- Fresh sides and vibrant dishes
- Refreshing drinks with a citrus twist

Students helped plate, serve, and enjoy the meal together, building independence and appreciation for global traditions.

The night ended with laughter, connection, and even a cozy movie time together, because learning extends far beyond the classroom walls.

Experiences like this bring geography, culture, and community to life in the most meaningful way.

With spring comes botany!

As the world around us begins to bloom, so does our curiosity! Our students embraced the season by diving into hands-on botany - dissecting real flowers and plants to discover what’s inside.

With tweezers in hand and notebooks open, they:
- Explored roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and seeds
- Observed textures, patterns, and tiny details
- Sketched and labeled each part
- Connected structure to function in meaningful ways

This kind of learning goes beyond memorization - it invites wonder, builds independence, and fosters a deeper connection to nature.

Spring is the perfect time to slow down, look closely, and let learning blossom.

A typical day in our Montessori classroom is a vibrant, purposeful, and joyful experience where children are deeply engaged in their work, and ultimately their education. It is a place where hands-on learning, small-group collaboration, and independent exploration flourish, fostering a true love of learning.

During the past couple months, the lower elementary class has been learning about and practicing kindness in their classroom. It began with the 3rd great lesson where we learned about how man is different than any other animal because we have a brain to think, hands to work, and a heart to love.

We then implemented what we learned by writing notes of friendship and appreciation to classmates and teachers for Valentine’s Day.

We implemented kindness lessons within our classroom community with activities where we were reminded about ways we could act kindly at school and at home.

Finally, this last week, we “shared kindness” by inviting the school to participate in a food and personal needs drive where we could bless the lives of some community members! The students divided food and items and helped prepare items for basket making and deliveries! So many great discussions about kindness, sharing and giving back when and where we can!

Truly, a great way to culminate our lessons of sharing kindness with others by having hands to work, brains to think, and hearts to love!!

This week at Teton View Montessori, our Upper Elementary students brought their South America studies off the page and into real life through research, presentation, and food.

Throughout the past few weeks, students have been working on in-depth country reports. They explored geography, climate zones, major landforms, indigenous cultures, government systems, food, and animals.

Each student became the class “expert” on their chosen country - answering questions, teaching classmates, and making meaningful connections across the continent.

To celebrate our learning, we connected culture to cuisine by making Honduran Crazy Corn (Elote Loco) - a popular street food in Honduras.

This is Montessori education in Upper Elementary at Teton View Montessori: deep research, cultural appreciation, hands-on experiences, and joyful community learning.

We are so proud of the thoughtful work, detailed reports, and confident presentations our students shared this week.

Learning is also always richer when you can taste it.

This month, the lower elementary classes got to learn about Ancient Egypt. A few things they came to understand about the Egyptions was their vast knowledge of astrology! They learned about the Nile River and its benefits to the people, including planting and rotation of crops. They discovered the significance of Pyramid building, and of course, Pharoah mummification!

One of the great things about being in a Montessori classroom is the hands-on learning that takes place. Each student was provided an opportunity to help mummify their classmate (the chosen Pharoah) all while learning about the process. They had so much fun and it was a very memorable experience for all!!

Note: absolutely no emotional or physical harm was done to any person before, during or after this mummification process. 😂 Just simply Joy in Learning!
