Students are advised to talk about one particular work, referring to other works where relevant.

A public speaking competition for sixth form students on the subject of art and architecture run by The Roche Court Educational Trust in association with Cambridge University The ARTiculation Prize invites students to give a five to ten minute talk on a work of art, architecture or artefact of their choice to an audience at museums and galleries across the country. The work need not be very well known but it's best if the speaker has had first-hand contact with the artefact he or she is talking about. Talks are judged on their ability to give listeners a deeper insight into, and enthusiasm for, the artwork being discussed. The ARTiculation Prize is open to all students, not just those studying Art or History of Art. Students studying other subjects are encouraged to take part and reflect their own interests within their talk.

Abigail Whittle was at the City of Wolverhampton College when she took part in ARTiculation 2018 at The Barber Institute of Fine Arts speaking on Sonia Bryce in an eloquent talk called Black Female Hairstyles, 1995. She recently did work experience at The Baber Institute of Fine Arts with support from ARTiculation and reported on her adventure. On the first day after becoming acquainted with the history of the Barber Institute of Fine Arts and its collection on current display, I was set with the task to research the first four paintings bought by the gallery.
