BS Zoology Final Viva/Thesis_Project 🖊️

On Wednesday, 23rd Spring 2025, the BS Zoology students at Hazara University Sub-Campus Battagram successfully defended their thesis projects.

We were honored by the presence of Dr. Shumaila Noreen, Chairperson, Department of Zoology, HU Mansehra, who joined as the external examiner. We are very thankful to her for visiting and guiding the students.

All students were well-prepared and confidently presented their work. At the end, Dr. Shumaila Noreen appreciated their efforts and wished them good luck for the future.

Dr. Tariq Anwar (Coordinator HUSC Battagram), Dr. Faisal Nourouz (Chairperson, Department of Bioinformatics, HU Mansehra), and faculty members Mr. Karamat Shah and Mr. Izhar Ullah Izhar (Lecturers, Department of Zoology, HUSC Battagram) were also present during the event.

On May 14, 2025, the Department of Zoology organized an educational field trip to the scenic region of Shamlai, located in District Battagram — an area known for its rich biodiversity and natural beauty 🌲🌲.

The purpose of the trip was to provide students with hands-on experience in wildlife observation and conservation practices 🌱.

Mr. Karamat Shah (Karamat Shahjee) and Mr. Izhar Ullah Izhar ( Izhar Ullah Izhar) delivered a short but powerful briefing on wildlife awareness and conservation 🍃.

They introduced the students to key research techniques including the Line Transect Method, Point Count Method, and Call Count Method.

The use of camera trapping in modern wildlife studies was also discussed, highlighting its importance in monitoring elusive and nocturnal species 🦂🦎🦅

They further explained the role of different species in maintaining ecosystem balance, making students realize how every organism plays a part in nature's web 🕸️🌿

A special discussion was also held on aquaculture and its growing importance in sustainable food production and biodiversity conservation.

During the trip, students had the chance to observe a variety of wild fauna in their natural habitat, making it a truly eye-opening and practical learning experience 🦋.

The exposure to real fieldwork helped bridge the gap between theory and practice 🌼.

A heartfelt thanks to our honorable coordinator, Dr. Tariq Anwar ( ), for his continuous support and facilitation, without which this field visit would not have been possible 💚
His encouragement made this enriching experience both successful and memorable.

We also deeply appreciate Areeba (BS 6th) for her thoughtful gesture in arranging a tea party for everyone. It brought smiles and energy to the group — thank you for your kindness and effort! 💌.

The trip ended on a high note with a group photo alongside the kind individuals who welcomed and hosted us during our visit.
Their hospitality made our day even more special.

The Department of Zoology arranged a special GRC session on 13 May, 2025 for students who couldn’t attend the previous 4th GRC meeting.

The session went smoothly — students confidently presented their synopses, and their research topics were approved by GRC committee members Mr. Karamat Shah and Mr. Izhar Ullah Izhar (Faculty).

It was a productive and encouraging session held in the conference room at HUSC Battagram.

Alhamdulillah, today (18/12/2024) we held the 4th GRC (Graduate Research Committee) meeting for BS 7th semester students, where they presented their synopsis.
All the topics were approved, with a few minor changes, modifications, and suggestions provided by the external examiners.

This was the department's 4th GRC meeting, which began in an excellent manner and concluded on a wonderful note with a group photo.

The external examiners/guests for the GRC were Dr. Hidayat Ullah (Ph.D. Zoology), Mr. Syed Sabir Hussain Shah (MPhil Scholar), and Dr. Rahmat Ullah Khan (Ph.D. Zoology). Among the departmental faculty, Mr. Karamat Shah, Miss Rimsha Khan, and Mr. Izhar Ullah were present.


Such meetings reflect the academic progress and collaborative spirit of the department.
It's commendable that students are actively engaging in research under the guidance of experienced faculty and external experts.

These events not only encourage academic excellence but also foster a culture of critical thinking and innovation.

The Fall Semester 2024 Sports Week begins tomorrow, with two teams from our Department of Zoology ready to compete. They’re excited to give their best and represent our department with passion and dedication.

We still carry the pride of our 2022 championship win. That victory, built on teamwork and hard work, continues to inspire us all. It reminds us of what we can achieve when we work together.

This year, it's about more than just winning. It's about supporting each other, playing with heart, and continuing the legacy of success in both sports and academics.

Let’s cheer on our teams and hope this Sports Week brings more pride and success to the Department of Zoology!
