Shubh Krishna Janmashtami!!
Krishna was born in the prison of Mathura to Devaki and Vasudev, who were held captive by Kans. On this day, Vishnu explained his Avtar and instructed Vasudev to take Krishna across river Yamuna to Gokul where Vasudev’s oldest wife, Rohini, was living with their son Balram, and friends Nand and Yashoda who had just given birth to a baby girl (Avtar of Devi Yogmaya/Durga).
Vasudev swapped Krishna with the girl, and returned to Mathura where Kans came to kill her (he knew he would be destroyed by Devaki’s child), however she revealed herself as Yogmaya and warned him of Krishna’s safety, and to change his evil ways.
We celebrate this day remembering that our Bhakti in our most desperate times, will call upon Bhagvan to protect us from evil and restore Dharma, as Krishna said to Arjun:
Did you know that Balram was an Avtar of Vishnu’s Shesh Nag who came to assist and protect Krishna in his life on Earth?
If you have any pictures/videos of how you are celebrating this Krishna Janmashtami, please tag us in your posts, we’d love to see them!
