EP DESK, Pasighat, August 5: In a significant achievement for higher education in Arunachal Pradesh, noted academician Dr. Tayek Talom has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Apex Professional University (APU) in Pasighat, East Siang district. He officially assumed office on August 1, following a formal oath-taking ceremony administered by APU Chancellor Acharya Dhanwant Singh.
Dr. Talom's appointment marks a historic moment for the university, as he becomes the first Vice-Chancellor from Arunachal Pradesh since the institution was established 13 years ago.
Widely respected in the field of education, Dr. Talom previously served as the Director of Higher and Technical Education in Arunachal Pradesh. With years of experience in academic administration, higher education governance, institutional development and policy implementation, he brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the university.
Speaking after taking charge, Dr. Talom said his vision is to make Apex Professional University a student-focused institution that encourages learning, innovation and overall personality development. He stressed the importance of providing quality education that not only builds academic excellence but also prepares students with practical skills and strong ethical values.
He also outlined plans to strengthen research activities, introduce emerging technologies into teaching, promote interdisciplinary learning, expand collaborations with industries and academic institutions, and improve student support services. According to him, the university will continue working towards making higher education more accessible, inclusive and relevant to the changing needs of society.
The university administration expressed confidence that under Dr. Talom's leadership, Apex Professional University will further strengthen its reputation as a centre for quality professional education and research, while creating better opportunities for students from Arunachal Pradesh and across the country.
Dr. Talom's appointment is being seen as a proud moment for the state, reflecting the growing contribution of Arunachali academicians in leading institutions of higher learning.
