We are so happy to share that we’ll be having our first event, a welcome event, next Thursday, October 2nd, from 5:30-8:30 in Leacock 14.
Whether you have sociology as a major, minor, or however it fits into your program, we would love to see you there!
Come hang out with us, meet new friends, and decorate some fabulous posters.
All art supplies, along with snacks and drinks, will be provided.

We are always in awe of our professors and all of their seriously impressive achievements, but some may mean a little more than others. Congratulations to all of the SSA and friends on an incredible year together - we are grateful beyond words, and are already looking forward to the next one!

Students on strike!

Join the SSA, the Critical Media Club, and SPHR McGill for a screening of the film 33 Days on April 3rd from 7:00-9:30pm in SSMU 201-B as part of the student strike programming! The screening of the film will be followed by discussion!

Film description:
“Filmed during the massive Israeli attack on Lebanon in 2006, 33 Days chronicles the lives of four young people working in theatre, media and emergency relief. Through their creativity and commitment, the film tells untold stories that forever marked the lives of those who survived that fateful summer in Beirut.”

Students on strike!

Join the SSA and SPHR McGill for a screening of the film Gaza Fights for Freedom on April 2nd from 7:00-9:30pm in SSMU 201-B as part of the student strike programming! The screening of the film will be followed by discussion!

Film description:
“This collaboration shows you Gaza’s protest movement like you’ve never seen before. Filmed during the height of the Great March Of Return protests, it features exclusive footage of demonstrations where 200 unarmed civilians have been killed by Israeli snipers since March 30, 2018.”

The SSMU has called a special general assembly on Thursday, March 27 at 6pm to vote on a student strike for Palestine between April 2nd and 4th, 2025! The SSA strongly endorses a yes vote for a strike, and encourages you to get involved in every way you can! With 15+ departments from the Faculty of Arts, the Honours Fair provides a unique opportunity for students to ask questions about the Honours programs offered at McGill, get a more comprehensive understanding of the expectations and benefits of completing an honours program and how to transition honours into fulfilling careers and higher studies.

VOTE BY DECEMBER 16TH!!
The SSA endorses a “YES” vote in the referendum for the ratification of the motion to impeach SSMU president Taylor. The motion has been passed at GA last week and is now pending online ratification.
