Hello All,
Update!!!!!
First Practice/Tryout will be held on Thursday, September 16th, 2021 at 3 pm at the Nepean Sailing Club (3259 Carling Ave).
If you cannot make it for 3 pm, that is okay. Please come whenever your done class. I will meet everyone at the front doors to NSC at 3 pm. If you cannot come on Thursday, just let us know. We will be having practices all next week which I will post about later.
We are excited to Partner with NSC again this year. They have been great in allowing us to use there facilities over the years. Every Uottawa Sailor must fill out the student member application form and send it to me via Facebook messenger (I will send them all together). There is the link to both of the forms (https://nsc.ca/web2/membership/joining-process/). The total cost to be a student member at NSC is 100$. This will carry over into next year so you will not have to pay this again in 2022. Once I send the forms in, you may call NSC and pay your membership fees.
**You must fill out the forms and send them to me before Thursday**
If you intend on sailing for Uottawa this year please like this post and I will create a group chat with all of our active members.
I figured that it will be easier to have a meeting in person rather then remotely. If people cannot attend then I can post a zoom to fill everyone else in.
If you have any questions, please feel free to message me personally or comment down below.
I hope this all makes sense.
Cheers,
Brad

Hello all,
We have received lots of messages from people who are interested in sailing this season.
As regattas are fast approaching, I would like to get an idea of how many people are available this fall. I would like to hold our first tryout/practice early next week.
I would also like to schedule a quick zoom meeting this weekend to get everyone up to speed on how university sailing works.
Please comment your availability for a meeting this weekend and your availability during the week and on weekends for practice and competitions.
University of Ottawa is open to all types of sailors from experienced racers to novice sailors. We encourage all to come out and have a great time on and off the water. University of Ottawa Sailing Team also allows Carleton University and Algonquin College students to join and compete at regattas. If you have anyone who is interested please let them know.
Thanks,
Brad Sheppard
Just a reminder, we have tryouts tomorrow from 12:15 to 4:30 at Nepean sailing club. Please come by to see what we're all about.
So I hope everyone has had a great summer. The collegiate sailing season is just starting to kick off soon. We will be hosting tryouts Wednesday September 4th from 12:15pm to 430pm. If you can't make it and are still interested in joining please let me know as we are actively trying to schedule another practice/tryout that week.
We sail out of Nepean Sailing Club and in order to be part of the team everyone must enroll as a student member. The fee is $75 and needs to be payed before you can sail. Please bring any sailing gear you have/need and your timetable so we can plan regular weekly practices for everyone.
There will also be a cost for each member to joint the team that will be discussed during the Wednesday tryout.
I can't wait to see you guys out there again, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to leave a comment or send me a message.

The team took part in the CICSA Team Racing Nationals hosted by this past weekend. We were not able to get any racing in Saturday due to gusts of up to 35 knots. We took the afternoon to visit Old Montreal. We got some races in on Sunday. It was warrior sailing conditions. 2-4 degrees air temperature gusts over 20 knots and even some snow showers.

uOttawa Sailing competed at the CanAm Cup hosted by Queens in Kingston this past weekend. We had spectacular sailing conditions Saturday with winds of over 20 knots in the afternoon. Sunday was light and tricky sailing. The team finished 8th out of 17 teams from Canada and the US. Thanks Queens for organizing an awesome event!
Our next events are the Team Racing Nationals at McGill and Fleet Racing Nationals at RMC
