In December 2024, our program led a group of students to the UK for the annual Overseas Field Study. This was the first time the program has taken students to the UK, and it is the farthest destination visited in the past 10 years.
During this 10-day trip, students explored a series of cities and countryside in the UK, such as Brighton, Bath, Oxford, and London,🌞 to gain firsthand knowledge of the country's history and cultural heritage, natural landscapes, and the charm of its diverse cities. Different students chose to investigate various tourism phenomena during this trip; for example, some will use the British Museum as a research base to study the visitor experience, while others will focus on London more broadly to explore cultural heritage conservation and modern tourism development. We believe this field study has provided the participants with a unique and meaningful cultural tourism experience.🤩
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Prof. Lewis Cheung from York St John University. As our guest professor, Prof. Cheung shared with us many invaluable insights, drawn from a rich well of personal and professional experience, that helped our students to deeply understand and reflect on the rich complexities of the UK tourist destinations that we visited.
